Dana 60 Brake Drum Color

I asked not long ago about the wheel side getting red paint and should have asked this also. Are the drums supposed to be black or cast color?? Mine came cast and I have noticed online that some are cast gray while some are black. Not building a points correct car, but am just curious how they would have been in 1970.

In doing a 70 440-6 4-speed RR about 13 years ago remnants of red paint was found on the mostly cast looking 10" rear drums. So in the restoration we used a universal red from O'Reilly Auto Parts.
