I am on the fence about what car to build. Have a 66 Belvedere 2-door with a 318 LA engine. I want to install a 440 that I have. I am looking at mounts and I am aware of Schumachers, a few mounts around used. Is there a reason why this kit won't work?

If you read the comments it makes mention of them bolting onto the engine. But fab work required to put them in a 67?

Just trying to save a buck if I can!

I'm not a wedge guy but did you look at applications says A-body not B-Body. Wait for others to chime in.

Those are definitely A body... What mounts are currently attached to your 440? The standard B/C/E body mounts should bolt right to you 318 K member..

Thank you for your help. I do know the difference between an A body and a B body but that got by me-thanks for helping me. My mounts are for a spool K in an A body. I know they won't work.

Picture a complete 66 B body with a 318 LA, complete car and a 440 with no mounts on a stand. That is basically what I have. I was just wondering if there was a way to save the $150 they are new is all. I am not destitute, just attempting to calculate my costs on building one car vs. another.

Not totally sure, but if like later B-Bodies, I think the K-Member is the same for big block and small block?
Just put a stroked 440 into a '66 Fury using the later 440 B-Body motor mounts, but it was a 383 car to start with?

I agree I think the K is the same.
on my '67 charger the k-member is the same. I took a 318 out and put a 440 in. part of engine mount to k-member worked from 318 and had to get part of engine mount to engine from 440source.com

If you do drop in a 440, I would change the torsion bars.
(Unless you like the really low rider look)

Oh yes lots more to do. I am at this point just costing things out and calculating. That is all I am up to. The car needs a lot of work, and I am just deciding which car to build.

Those 440 Source mounts are the ticket...
318 Poly weights damn near as much as a 440... If it's to low a couple turns on the torsion bar adjuster will get it where you want it.... Now if you want to corner like a modern car yeah look at T bars...

Doing it now changing my 67 Plymouth belvedere from 318 to 440. What you'll need is BB engine mounts and BB transmission and cooler lines depending on water pump housing you have different radiator or housing and if it's power steering you'll need BB brackets or pump good luck with your build

If your going to tighten torsion bar adjuster bolts to raise front end. Jack it up, put it on jackstands. Count the number of turns so you raise (or lower) car the same amount on both sides.

I believe the weight difference is about 50 LBS.

Just going to jump in now as the resident "expert" The 440 will bolt right onto the 66 small block v8 k frame with the factory big block mounts. With the "spool mounts" your 440 was probably out of a post 73 B body? BTW If you have a TRUCK 440, you need different mounts, dipstick and oil pan. Don't pay extra for "conversion" mounts you don't need them. I sell used factory brackets with new mounts for $75 plus the ride. PM me for more swap advice if you need to

^^^^^ that's a decent deal for engine brackets and new mounts. Its a pretty straight forward swap. few items will have to be looked at going to the 440, like radiator , trans to carb linkage if 727, throttle cable will reach but your at the end. There are a few more snags but its all part of the fun.

Thank you to everyone. I get the mount thing now. I have built a few Mopars, including a 440 A body with working column shifter that I made linkage for etc. Very little kit action in that car. I'm pretty mechanically inclined.

What I have not done though, is work on a B body at all older than the early 70's. The nuances escape me with that vintage.

If I do the car it will get manual steering, a RMVB 727 with a floor shift etc. It will be a bit racey as they say. Probably end up with some rear suspension work the usual street and strip stuff.

Thank you very much!

If using the original vintage big block water pump the radiator will even hook up. Cool maybe not. Just depends on how your application came from the factor and what the 440 really is.

I have decided at this point to finish my A body first. The car I am asking about is likely going to a new home as I only have need for one hot rod at a time. It has been educational and fun learning. The A body will get a 440 with fenderwells and all the other goodies that go along with it.
