Looking for a Mopar Performance ECU Chrome box P4120534. Prefer new....but will consider very nice used. PM me with details. Thanks in advance! Joe

Joe, I can't help with a MP chrome box but I run the FBO box and I like it a lot better than the chrome box I had. It's made in USA and has a rev limiter. If you want to have a look, you can find it here:

I agree with Bill 110%. Rev-N-Nator or FBO box will get you way further than the MP units do now. The discontinued the orange and chrome box for that reason. The quality was horrible. I had two fail in one year before switching the box out for the Rev-N-Nator unit and have never looked back since.

You have to find an older Chrome or Orange box for it to be a good unit. The last decade or so of MP ignition boxes were crap. The Revenator or FBO boxes are take off’s that are upgraded.

MP did not discontinue there ignition boxes due to the RBO or Revenator boxes. That idea is just ridiculous.

I did not mean that they discontinued them for that reason.....apparently a line I was typing got deleted. Sorry about that. They discontinued them because of quality issues within. I talked to a dealer rep I know and he said they had serious issues with quality the last few years the offered them. Like I said I lunched two of them within a year before scrapping them MP units. Luckily the one was in the driveway. The second required an on road repair with a Napa unit to get home. No ridiculous ideas needed just typing error lol.

2 years ago I tried the rev n ator. Could not get car to run right, even tried replacing distributor and coil. Plus the tac was all over the place. Called and left them messages but they never returned my calls. Replaced it with a new chrome box and car has run great ever since with no problems.
If it ever fails I’ll try the FBO unit.
I didn’t know they stopped making them, good luck finding one.

Looks like if mine fails, it would be a FBO unit then if I couldn't get a replacement. When I got mine last summer, they had a bunch and were nothing but awesome to deal with. Hope they get it straightened out.

Pretty odd that they claim that NO OTHER coils will work with their box AND that nobody else has the ability to test these parts but them. WTF ??? Talk about trying to corner the market !

DO NOT use any MSD Blaster, Accell or parts store Coil, they are incorrect for the Micro-Processor Type FBO Ignition Box and will not perform correctly and could damage the ECU. The Processor has been programmed to maximize output to the 40011 coil. No other coil that we have tested will perform as well as the Pertronix 40011. The processor program is burned to match that coil.

I did t see a thing about only them testing the box in my quick scan.

Further down, they state that NO parts store testing equipment is to be used as it will damage the unit.

All I can tell you is that it has given me problem free reliability and performs well. Don at FBO is easy to get ahold of and always willing to help with any issues and you don't have to go through the press one for english and sit on hold for a half hour. Just leave a message and he calls you back.
Great products and great service...enough said

That’s because the parts stores are ill-equipped to test such equipment. When you have something unique, you probably would be the only one who could test the equipment. To me, that is not trying to corner the market. Personally, I just can’t see it that way. I don’t know how you can, but, everybody has a point of view. I’m not going to argue it. If that’s the way you see it, that’s the way you see it. I think it’s silly, but that’s just my point of you. Again not trying to stir the pot, Or start ****.
