I can't help it, this needs to be pointed out.....

So as of today (10/8) there were three ads posted for "Restored" Wiper Motors.... Well what they really are is the barrel from somewhat desirable part number wiper motors installed on later model motor assemblies... They are completely visually wrong & the guy wants more $$$ than you would pay from most of the normal wiper motor restoration vendors for a properly done restoration.....

The correct motor has red Gyptol sealing wires soldered to a fiber insulator board as shown below...

The ones listed have the 73 & up style plastic insulator.... As seen in the ads.. and also below..

Thank you for following the rules.

Having said that, there is a case for having a watchdog deal when it comes to items such as this. And what you have done is cool with me....alerting people to possible fraudulent parts - or misrepresented parts.

Yes you did good! Thanks for pointing it out.

I appreciate your tenacity to be "Smarter than the average Bear"!

I understand not wanting "For Sale" threads to have lots of discussion but often what is being sold is misrepresented whether intentionally or through lack of awareness.... Those of us who have played with this stuff for 20+ (In my case +++++) years know stuff that can help buyers (and sometimes sellers) not make a easy mistake that could be regretted later....

I've PM'ed a couple sellers about stuff that was listed wrong, not surprisingly the only ad that was changed was the one where a somewhat rare part was listed as a common part for a low price... If I were smart I would have scooped it up & relisted it...

A note to all members here - further to these items being brought to our attention....anyone considering buying from a person who has only just joined the forum (today in this case) should think twice and do their homework first. Also, a member who joins to sell exotic and sought after parts, using a vague description of their location should be taken into consideration before parting with a chunk of change like that.
It certainly rings alarm bells.... :steering:

I'm glad we have people here that know all these intricate details
& are willing to share their knowledge & experience with the group
or to protect us :luvplace:

I think he should call the Balk to the ad so others know, because not everybody that's lookin for a wiper motor may not see this topic. Otherwise they should've hit that black triangle in the lower left corner of the ad and reported it, if they haven't already done that?

Why isn't there a rule like you have to post *** number of times before you can place a ad? That would certainly cover everybody's asses, even Joey's! Just a thought.

There are enough road bumps in this Hobby even without stuff like that.

When I looked at those ads, something didn't feel right and thought that the price was out of line too but wiper motors isn't something I know much about. Anyways, the ads were moved to the trash. Thanks for the heads up!

Speaking of selling, what about the guy who joined yesterday and listed a whole page of Smart Phones for sale today?? That is the weirdest thing I have seen on FBBO.

He might have sold some if he said they were available in High Impact colors

A scammer.....sometimes they get in and puke all over the place. Roger got him though.

That has been mentioned before, and is certainly worthy of asking again.

The last site I moderated had that system. At the time scammers were out there in mass and it helped reduce that problem by a bunch!

Can't say enough times...
Thank you all for alerting members to "inconsistencies" in advertized items whether they be fraudulent or unintentional
I rely on members to help identify items that may not be "correct"
Thanks again for speaking up!
And yes, I noticed items being sold from sellers/members that may have joined the same day of the ad, that don't look right and have reported them
Too many possible scammers
Thank you all again!
