I have as well as others, and others still are slowly trickling out. Why do you continue stay when it's like living in a burning building? Why do you choose to accept and live like that? Please, tell me.
If you have a decent job, you can afford to live here.
The weather here beats Nevada by a LONG shot.
The scenery here beats Nevada as well.
People that live in a house can look out their back window and see something other than rocks, concrete buildings and Casinos.
People with Family have a harder time leaving. Being a single or divorced person makes it MUCH easier to pick up and leave.
If I turn off the news, I don't encounter nearly as much despair. Sure, the homeless problem is getting worse but it isn't in my town yet. I'm not saying that it won't but SOME people complain as if there is no reason at all to stay here.
I do plan to leave but mostly because of what our place can buy in a cheaper RED state. I am looking forward to leaving but SOME people keep beating the same drum in almost EVERY post of theirs...It is as if they are delusional or PAID to talk trash. ONE person ******* as if California was his girlfriend that took his money, screwed his friends and gave him the drippy dick disease. NOBODY else constantly complains about this single topic more than that one guy does.

You're right. I have a nice home, and that's the best place to be.... home. When I bitch about the area, my wife says, "all you have to do is drive the coast line on Highway 1 and it makes it worth it all."

I grew up in the southwestern part of Pa. I dreamed of California. When I was 17 I went to school in Denver. From then on I longed for the west and moved to Nevada when I was 36. It didn't matter what state as long as there was sunshine.

California still has great weather & great scenery, sure we have our problems but most everywhere I've lived has it's problems.... I've seen homeless in Chicago, Atlanta, Tampa, Minneapolis, Dallas, Philly... I've seen druggies in all the same places.. Crack heads & crack whores, gangsters & thieves....I see them here too, but at least we have better weather than all the places I mentioned...
I keep voting for my values, if enough of us do perhaps things will change... But if people keep running from it the only change will be for the worse...

There is no prefect place or state live. There are pros and cons for every state. No doubt some states I would not live, period. The US has our problems, still probably the best place to live. This can change.

I grew up right across the border in SE Kansas and really like that area as it has gentle rolling hills there and the Ozarks are nearby. It is economically depressed which is what made me leave right out of college but I enjoy "coming home" a few times a year.

CA is big and you can find almost any sort of weather or landscape in it if you look around. I lived in CA for a few years and enjoyed some of it and hated some of it. The politicians have been nuts in CA for many years for some unknown reason. I really like the very north part of CA up around the Klamath River. The people that live up there don't even consider themselves to be Californians. It is almost a completely different state up there than it is down in the big urban areas. There are lots of areas over by the NV border that are super nice. Mountains, forests, lakes, etc. Nothing like places like Fresno, Bakersfield or Needles. And of course the coast line has a totally different climate and feel than these other places. The northern coast is a lot different than the southern coast. I hate about half of the state but that still leaves a lot to like. The politicians are nuts though which is why I don't live there anymore. Of course up here in OR our politicians are starting to get the CA disease so who knows how long we'll last.

I lived in Mo for 38 years before coming to Tx. I love the state and everything up there, and Mo-Kan is a super great country drag strip!!!! I hope to make it there for the spring deal next year for some parts and see some friends. 550 mi one way!
And you're liking Shepard?? The area where I live used to be somewhat country near the big city but now after living here since 63, it's getting way too crowded but not too sure I'd want to move to Shepard lol
