Street wedge hood vs Max wedge hood

The scoops only came on the aluminum front end cars from the factory. I do believe some dealers may have installed scoops on steel nose cars for some customers though. You could do what I did as my 63 had a nice hood with the mld down the middle of the hood and I did not want to cut it. So I found this glass hood for $100 dollars. I bought the glass hood and put this fiberglass scoop on it my friend gave me. Its now a lift of hood but that's fine with me as I love the look of the Max Wedge scoop. But that said its your car and if you like the scoop and want to install it on your hood then go and do it. You are the only one you have to please when it comes to your car. Good luck with it. Ron

As for me , even thou I still have some refining to do on my hood. I think it really brings out the nostalgia look in my 63 Ply Sport Fury vert.
I tried many body colors and with or without scoop. Well I just dig the look !
Butt ! That's just me and my $.02
I also did not cut holes in my hood "YET" so it is only there for looks.
I "might" cut after I install my 426 M/W . That is if it ever gets out of the mach. shop ?

I know this is an old thread.. but who was the manufacturer of your scoop?

Just wondering about the comment not to put a Max Wedge scoop on a good steel hood. It either does not have the hood it was built with or somebody cut the braces out. Either way it's wrong to the rest of the car.

cut it! I cut my 64 sport fury hood for the hemi scoop. Big old hole for the round air cleaner to clear and breath. Also filled in the trim holes after removing the spear. There are tons of 4 doors out there still just waiting to give you their hoods if you ever wanted another one. They aren’t rare. Now if it was an all original aluminum front end or max wedge car or even better a hemi car then I’d have a different opinion.

I'm tempted to offer a finders fee for a '64 hood or deck lid, but then with my luck I'd have to drive to Ottawa to pay up. From my perspective here, '64 hoods and deck lids aren't exactly growin on trees....

Do you seriously need one around Ottawa area? There are a few junk yards with some four doors not far. I could look into getting the names if so.

No, but around northern Ohio would be nice, and if anyone travels maybe... I would certainly like to find a reasonable hood and trunk in great shape. We will have to agree to disagree, but no way would I cut another good hood. :poke:

I bought a steel scoop for my '65 street wedge car. I like the way the steel scoop looks and it screws on rather than messing around with glass.

The metal scoop in the picture is a piece that comes from the country of Peru and only costs around $1700. Sled City sells 3 different heights of the scoop for the 63-65 b bodies for $300 each

My glass hood came with studs in it and was simple to install. And its nice thick glass as its no cheap thin scoop. But it was given to me for a favor I did a friend so I don't know what brand it is. Ron

That is more like the scoop we are looking for (not real tall). The taller version for $50 seemed like it might be
a good deal, depending on the shipping cost. The shorter version looks good on your 63.
