Weird date on 70 340 carb??

Bill @62MAX your inbox is full. I was gonna send a PM but couldn't. Maybe some other members can help. Anyway looking for some info on a 4937S AVS. Book says it is correct for a 1970 340 Automatic but the date code is F8 is this June of 78 or miss stamped? As always Thanks for any information..

If there is an "A" after the S then that would be correct.....SA is a replacement carb....

Guess the stamper was tipsy and selected the wrong number etc......even if it was to be a 9 June 69 is a bit too early for an early 70 build.....

It would be interesting to see what Bill has to say...

According to the Carter parts and specification manual it is listed as 72 340 auto with N95 California Emissions.As to why the J 8,don't have a clue.

It is a 70 carb and it is not a J but an F.....
