has anyone here tried this unit out for accuracy yet? thanks

Yeap...Chinese junk
Agreed, as far as I know there are NO good sending units out there. Mine works but shows 3/4 tank when full, I just live with it. I have a brand new 3/8 unit with a 1/4 return if you need it by the way. I haven't tested it but probably not accurate either

I used Quanta but where is it made? Instructions has SPI logo. Also has French language (Canada)

Fuel tank was Spectra Premium made in Canada.

The unit worked flawlessly and was accurate for two years. A couple of fill ups ago the dash guage stayed on full until almost half tank. Don't know if it's the unit or a ground.

bad grounds will usually result in no reading at all

There all Spectra that i'm aware of. Accurate as a 12 ga w bird shot. I fiddled with my sender 3 / 4 times... waste of time. I learned how it reads and work around that

The repro POS I had went to 5/8 when full and when it read empty, the tank really was empty.

Like 99% of repro parts, senders are close but no cigar.

The way I remember it from 30 years ago, the original factory ones weren’t much better. Mine used to stay close to a full tank for a long time then drop below a 1/4 tank. (But I guess the car was 20 years old at that time)

I have found that the original ones with some tweaking can be better than the new repro versions.

A good leak-proof float is the key, plus good grounding.

I put one in my uncle's '68 gtx a few years back, that he got from Bill Rolik. It worked good (and was more $$) but I don't know if they're still available. The one in my car now is one of the Spectra repops, it was $35 from Jegs and I had to do some trial and error with bending the arm (which was a hassle) but it reads fairly close now. Getting the lock ring seated just right was also a challenge, and after two years I've noticed it's starting to leak a little.

But I bet if you measure that OE retainer ring it's 70thou thick and not the 51 that was recently sold as NOS !

Odd you should mention that. I just dug out a couple of "NOS" rings I bought from a member here several years ago. Measure right at .051", about the same as the junk that comes with new tanks and sending units. Live and learn, right?
