Mexican Phone Company hits New Zealand

Give the man a vegemite sandwich.... And a few Tim Tams... Yeah, I know thats the neighbors...
:rofl::rofl: close enough I guess......I do like my Timmies. :D

Just out of curiosity, what do you generally eat in NZ? I’ve travelled a bit of the world and eat locally when I can. I like Mexican the best of the places I’ve been to, but I know nothing about your food. What would a local meal consist of?
Well, tonight we had some fresh Hapuka (New Zealand Groper) - crumbed and fried in butter....with mashed potatoes...again with butter & ground black pepper. Simple Saturday night dinner.

My family typically eat steak (mostly Rib-eye), lamb - roasted gently, regular ground beef used in many recipes - bolognese, chilli, burrito, Taco, hamburger patties, meatloaf. We don't eat unusual or weird food that much. Love our pasta - macaroni, spaghetti, lasagne etc.
I have tried to wean the kids of McD's/Pizza & Chinese...but we still get that usually once a week - mostly when my wife or myself are too exhausted to cook at home. Christmas Day we will have turkey, baked ham, roast lamb, pumpkin, potatoes, parsnips, kumara (sweet potato), peas & the obligatory Brussel Sprouts. :D

I think our food is normal, but that's my opinion of course. I was farm raised, and my father worked at the local Meat Works - so we were fed the very best cuts as kids. Hell, I got sick of prime lamb chops after a few years. We have always been able to catch or obtain fresh fish and seafood at a great price.....crayfish (lobster) was never far away.

Visiting New Zealand, you won't go hungry, and you'll have plenty of choices. :)

Ah, Taco Bell. I hope they hand out promotional stirrups for your toilets there. Here in Texas, we get the real deal, but Taco Bell is always there when I need catfish chum.

Brussel sprouts should be the perfect car snack.. They are bite sized.... They aren't messy, dropping crumbs everywhere... All natural so they are healthy.... But they taste like crap.....

Therefore they should be reclassified as part of a weapons system... Specifically they are perfectly sized to be used as ammo in a wrist rocket sling shot.... They are rock hard therefore they cause damage, they are biodegradable since we need ammo that is environmentally friendly.... Yup, Ammo not food....

You gringos have no intestinal fortitude. :poke::blah:

Go for it @kiwigtx you'll be glad you did.

 oh my God, no, not at all, to all of you guys that have been in Mexico, you know we are very proud of our most typical and worldwide known cuisine, why do you think that not a single Taco bell is in Mexico, because that's not Mexican, @Dibbons can testify that the best tacos are in the street stands.

Warning Kiwi....if you eat Taco Bell, 2 things will happen shortly after.........
1st the look..........

That sort of what I expected. Most of the members of the former British Empire seem to eat similar food, with slight geographical and regional variations. I was surprised that food in Britain itself was nearly unpalatable, while nearby Scotland had terrific food, much like French food. Your diet is quite similar to ours, somewhat shaped by our mutual isolation. We don’t have farms or ranches here, so food must be brought in or obtained off the land. I eat beef so infrequently that it gives me, ummm, the squirts. Not sure that I could even digest pork. It’s the fat. Yet when I go to Mexico I can eat their beef no problem because it’s raised differently then Canadian or American beef and is leaner.
Thanks for the info.

Sorry, but you have to eat it once to know how bad it is. It's like a right of passage. Let us know how long you hold it in.

haven't been to fast food for decades

well except KFC

I haven't been to Taco Bell for a long time
did them a lot, when I was in my 20's

I like to cook & like my own Tacos much better

been to Mexico quite a few times
(only got Montezuma's revenge once, I think it was from the water
I usually drank beer or mixed drinks, or canned stuff, rarely water)
I loved the food there
but never bought anything from a street vender, ever

I was actually 'told not to'
