Give the man a vegemite sandwich.... And a few Tim Tams... Yeah, I know thats the neighbors...

Well, tonight we had some fresh Hapuka (New Zealand Groper) - crumbed and fried in butter....with mashed potatoes...again with butter & ground black pepper. Simple Saturday night dinner.Just out of curiosity, what do you generally eat in NZ? I’ve travelled a bit of the world and eat locally when I can. I like Mexican the best of the places I’ve been to, but I know nothing about your food. What would a local meal consist of?
My family typically eat steak (mostly Rib-eye), lamb - roasted gently, regular ground beef used in many recipes - bolognese, chilli, burrito, Taco, hamburger patties, meatloaf. We don't eat unusual or weird food that much. Love our pasta - macaroni, spaghetti, lasagne etc.
I have tried to wean the kids of McD's/Pizza & Chinese...but we still get that usually once a week - mostly when my wife or myself are too exhausted to cook at home. Christmas Day we will have turkey, baked ham, roast lamb, pumpkin, potatoes, parsnips, kumara (sweet potato), peas & the obligatory Brussel Sprouts.
I think our food is normal, but that's my opinion of course. I was farm raised, and my father worked at the local Meat Works - so we were fed the very best cuts as kids. Hell, I got sick of prime lamb chops after a few years. We have always been able to catch or obtain fresh fish and seafood at a great price.....crayfish (lobster) was never far away.
Visiting New Zealand, you won't go hungry, and you'll have plenty of choices.
