Dana 60 Detailing

I have gone overboard so why stop now. 1970 B body Dana 60 detailing question. Does the center section remain natural cast iron or was it painted black like the housing. Also were the rear drums left natural cast??

When I removed my dana, still factory painted, and all the differential was in black satin.
