I have an original cap but the plan is to use a fuel cell and have been thinking of welding up the original fill hole but haven't decided to do that yet.Not only remember but my 66 has one. Do you need one, where have you looked ETC. ? NAPA has a locking chrome one BK7031116. call Desert Valley Auto Parts. they probable have one. Andy Bermbaun, Roberts Auto, Look in Hemmings Motor news, etc.
No scrapes....that's some black paint that got thrown on it. The rust looking part near the tail light is.....rust but it's only surface rust. Thinking back, was sanding on that area and forgot about the bare metal. The car sat for years facing the other direction with the driver's side close to the wall and....out of sight out of mind.By looking at the scrape marks on the quarter I can guess what happened to the factory cap. If there wasn't any scrape marks then I would think that the factory cap was left on top of the last gas pump that they stopped by.
Thanks but I have my original still.....I think. This is not a for sale post.. But I have 2 caps I can let go of. One is an original 66 cap but missing the emblem and the other is a 66 replacement cap. Looks like this and i believe its a Stant G28 View attachment 896977
