What a challenge over something that should not be this hard! LOL! I need to replace one lug stud in the front hub assembly on my 65 Belvedere that the previous owner had cross threaded and total screwed up. It just spun and spun due to the serrations being destroyed.
One lousy stud that I just cant find! See attached photos and some dimensions in inches as follows:

Shoulder appears to be .650 length
Total length 1.96
Under Head 1.7250
Thread 1.075
Knurl 6.375

Stamped U 200 on top of stud head which is .800

About as close as I can get since the knurl is totally gone due to the stripping.

Does anyone know of a replacement? Hub assembly has part number 34736?

Maybe someone has a spare hub they don't need?

That’s a Dorman part number on the stud.
Hit a good auto parts store or order one online

I need to know thread size, knurled shoulder length under head, total length UNDER head, knurled shoulder diameter.

That stud is probably incorrect. The correct stud is a Dorman 610-039. The correct stud specs are: Thread 1/2"x20, Knurl Dia 0.625", OAL under head 1.625", shoulder length under head 23/32 (0.719")

And it might still fit loosely. They were swedged studs from the factory and have been drilled out so the drum can be removed without removing the whole hub. Find something that fits, if still loose you'll have to weld it on the back side.

Thank you for all the help guys. Still trying to figure this out. Think I found the stud I need on Ebay. We shall see and fingers crossed.

In the mean time anybody recognize this drum and part number/size? Of course I cant find it either! LOL! It is definitely a 10 x 2.5 drum but probably aftermarket and maybe not even from a 65 Plymouth?

Car stops beautifully and looks great but whoever got to it before me may have used a brake setup from another year Mopar car or truck. Who knows! Part tof the fun I guess!

Any thoughts on the part numbers?

Thanks in advance, again!

Jeff

From my build thread...

Ordered a different set of drums for the front. They are more expensive but are the ones listed for the front. Napa part #440-1056.

I was trying to use the same drums that I had used on the rear but the center hole was bigger and it wasn't a perfect fit for the front hubs. These fit tight. Only a couple of mm difference but these are what you need to use for a good fit. I don't know why the front hubs are just a tick smaller than the rear but they are.

The drum brake stuff is getting hard to find, might be time to swap on some late model A body brakes since they are easier to get parts for.
I always use a Dorman Ford truck lug stud since they are a little longer and have a dog nose. You may need to drill the hub to a larger size for the knurl. If you're going to be working on an old car you'll either need to acquire some machine shop tools or else find a friendly machine shop nearby that can whittle on things for you. The days of walking into an auto parts store and buying replacement parts is long gone when you have a '65 Belvedere.

Those are replacement Chinese drums. The 255.39mm is the max size allowed. This is 10.055" max, so they are 10" brake drums.

Thanks Everybody for the feedback! Much appreciated! I'll keep you posted on progress! Kid, nice (great) work buddy and great info. Andy, if you only knew how much I use those tools! LOL! Just like to be thorough and try to match things up if possible. Found the studs on ebay so all will be same length and size. Will drill and or tack weld as needed to get all to fit together properly. Did give me a chance to clean the brakes though!

And here is the patient.

Thanks again, Jeff

Hey saw your post, I’m restoring this 68 Charger and it’s been a treat to say the least. I saw this part number and am having the same issues finding the right size lug studs. Do you know what size they are? Also the wheels I have the studs need to be longer anything helps.
