66/67 Belvedere, Satellite, GTX Quarter Panel Survey

I contacted AMD today to suggest the need for quality quarter panels for 66/67 Belv/Sat and GTX's. I told them that there is a need for quarter panels due to the high incidence of rust in the forward section of the quarter panel at the rear wheel well. I told them, that many owners of these cars have discussed the need on FBBO.

The representative from AMD said there is just not enough need of these quarter panels to justify the manufacture of a new product. He went on to say maybe 5-10 guys need these panel or maybe even 15-20 and that amount doesn't justify a need.

I may be biased but I think there are many more of these b-body owners that need new quarters, I'd like to get a response from those of you who need these quarters, maybe Joey could attach this to an on going poll that could eventually be forwarded to AMD and maybe change their minds and attitude toward 66/67 b-bodies.
I may be able to help.

i have a 67 belvedere 1 2 dr sedan and i had the same answer i have bought full floors for my 62 savoy 2 dr sedan and 67 bel 1 and amd products are great and service is very good but they said it would cost about 100.000.00 a side to tool one side quarter panel that would be a big investment to chance on the start of production for an unknown amount i would definately purchase both sides if they started production thankyou mopar joe jackson nj

I can't believe this same issue with AMD and the 67 Satellite quarter panel problem is still going on! Five years ago when my Satellite needed them, AMD was saying the same thing--they "might" start producing them. It set my restoration back a year until we just moved on and used donor parts and other metal. Turned out great (and now I have to let the car go), but please don't wait for AMD. They keep making promises and then back out saying there isn't a big enough call for these quarter panels as they lose more and more business. It's so silly.

We aren't asking for much, basically 3 parts but they have spent the last few years making Ford and chevy truck parts.

As of now,the Mopar parts haven't turned a profit for AMD. The tooling costs to make them are very costly. They make their money off the GM and Ford stuff. They only make the Mopar stuff, because they are Mopar guys. I am sure that some of the more popular Mopar stuff has turned a profit, but overall there isn't much of a market for Mopar parts,so it's easy to say, just make this or just make that, but they are in business to make money like anyone else that runs a business, so we should count our blessings that someone finally stepped up and made parts for our cars. It was a long time coming!

Like others, I would have purchased any necessary parts, most particularly those desperately needed rear quarter panels, from AMD, but they gave the same lame excuse. My restoration is done and I have no need for any further parts.

Someone who does need these parts should ask AMD what they have against these model cars and why they don't think they're worth restoring. It's the only reason I can think of for why they feel it isn't worth producing 5000 pieces. There are certainly 2500 (give or take and assuming a pair would be purchased at a time) of these vehicles out there that do or will need these parts.

All I hear on 66-67 B body forum is quarter panels trunk extensions and outer wheel houses. There is a new member @Joe Phillips that says he can help. He made a quarter panel for a local friend of mine and he is really pleased. I don't know his prices but I will say that my friend was only to glad to pay and get something that works on his car. This may be everyone's early option on AMD dragging their ***. Talk doesn't cost anything.

A friend sent me this today. I guess it was posted somewhere. @Joe Phillips has made a quarter panel for a good friend of mine and he is delighted. Here is another job by him apparently well done.

Those look great. Way better than the Sherman stuff. As long as he has the correct distance on the lines. Its smaller at the rear than it is up by the door. They taper along the way to the back.

Yes Joe making me a pair right now great guy very happy the way they coming out

im sure they are nice and very impressive that he has the skill to make something like that but im gonna wait for AMD quarters, drop offs and outer wheel houses.... honestly im getting tired of watching all the Ford and truck stuff come out while we wait.
