Don's 1969 Charger Restoration

Sorry I didn't catch up on this thread before now, Don.
Ironically, I'm sitting here with a house full of my wife's grandkids as I write this
and couldn't even imagine what it would be like. Good Lord.... :-(
My "dances" with the whole death thing, my own and others close, have always been
of folks of various adult ages, not that of a child robbed of the chance to grow and
become aware of this amazing world around us.

I'm just so sorry. My condolences to you and yours, sir.

I am so sorry Don. I have 5 daughters ages 2 to 11 and your post really hit me hard. May God comfort and bless you and your family. I am happy you have the comfort of knowing that she is in heaven and that you will be reunited someday.

I'm so very sorry for your families loss. Thoughts and prayers.

I want to thank each and every one who expressed there sympathy and for your thoughts and prayers. It means a lot!

My family and I are doing well.
Don

Time to update this thread.
I got the foot wells and rear seat pan in

At this point, next would be the trunk floor, but before I welded it in I needed to find out why I had to put so much pressure on the rear of the quarter to pull it up to get it to align to the rear body panels.

What I found was the outer tub at the wheel arch lip was interfering and holding the back of the quarter from pulling up and aligning properly.
So because the wheel wells were already welded in, I decided to slice the outer lip off.

Once I was satisfied that the quarter would fit I prepped the trunk pan

and welded it in

then I ground the welds down and sprayed etch primer

Then I welded the inner wells to the floor

And welded in the spare tire brackets

Thanks Paul. These pics were from last summer, but I have been at it.... updates to come

Good to see you are back with updates Don. Keep the pics coming.

If your thinking of running bigger tires now would be a good time to dehump the outer wheel well!

Thank you sir,
I am really glad you did another restoration, I enjoy seeing this old muscle coming back to life.

nice kickin butt on it.
Not like you did, and by the way I like that 3rd stop light you added to your resto. Really cool look from the side!

I already did the de-hump mod see below

Is this what you meant?

Looking great as usual Don. Gives me some motivation to get back at mine, now to just find some time.

So I was looking at the trunk floor and noticed that I had spots of rust bleeding through the self etch primer at the plug welds. AHHHHHH It was all over. :BangHead:

So I decided to strip it all off, (using lacquer thinner) and then mix up some epoxy primer and brush it on.

I didn't want to take any chances so I stripped the 3M self etch primer off everywhere where I plug welded and brushed on the epoxy.

Not sure why this happened ?

With all of the floor pans in, I decided to start in on the dash cluster and bezels.

Thanks Wayne,
I have been working at it quite a bit, I am just terrible at updating! Which makes me wonder how does everybody keep there threads updated? Using a computer, or through the phone?
And I yes I believe the cluster was in good shape, but definitely needing some TLC

Mine and my 10 billion pictures are on my desk top computer.. I don't even own a smart phone..
