Engine coding.....'Z' code.....

I thought an "M" also designated the 440 4 bbl in a 69 barracuda

I've found allpar to be a bit of a mixed bag

Mine too!

Next question.....how many have seen a Z code V8 on a 70-78 car? Snot me......

Here's a '68 FSM from the 70s. I've personally seen 'M' code '68 cars, never a 'Z' from the early 70s...Maybe this helps or maybe just mucks things up even more. I'm fine either way!:D

Anyone have a FSM for a 70 or later vehicle?
That would be good enough for me. I tend to not take 'allpar' or other regurgitated internet lists as gospel like some do, but I would gladly accept it as truth if it was in a Chrysler FSM.

FSM is not without errors and/or omissions.

The 66 FSM lists half of the engine VIN #s incorrectly.

I'm the same way too and Allpar isn't gospel but they seem to be one of the better places to start from. I do know if you know the right people, you could get some things from the factory that normally wasn't offered. In this day and age of 'packaged' cars, it seems you usually only have a small window to chose what package you get with little changes possible. In 92 for example, I ordered a Dakota Sport but wanted the 6x9 mirrors because I had a boat that planned to pull plus I just like bigger mirrors. The Sport model wasn't offered with the big mirrors but a dealership buddy pulled a small string and the thing was built with them. Something like that isn't much of an issue to get however, for the next few years, I paid attention to how many Sports had the big mirrors and saw only a couple. How many were retrofitted by owners once they had the truck? Only the paperwork would tell the story....
