......and I feel both inspired, and inadequate. That’s a mountain of muscle, a pinnacle of power......and another reason why China will never...ever...be cooler than America.

Hey Mark, looking back would you have kept one of the Daytona's or just glad you had them and don't miss them much?

Very nice. Any particular favorite out of the bunch?

They've all been special to me at the time. Some were sold due to lack of space or needing money at the time & due to increasing values, I wish that I had held onto some, but I'm pretty happy with the current three that I have. They are all solid #2 cars, but I've come to learn that it's more fun to drive them versus being afraid to drive them due to them being too nice to drive.

Looking back, I wish that I still had the R6 4-speed Daytona but in the late 80's the car would have been worth about 35K when finished & it needed a complete restoration. At that time, that wasn't economically feasable for me. I bought the car for 14K, rebuilt the engine & sold it for (I believe) 21K. Sounds cheap now, but that was top dollar at the time. Who was to know that it would be a 200+ thousand dollar car today.

That is my number one rule. Neither of my cars will be so nice I won't drive them. We had a convo on Christmas with my girlfriends uncle and family. They all got bug eyed when I told them I had a 68 Charger and the 68 Roadrunner. The first question he asked is do you drive them, especially the Charger? I told him well yea that I drive the hell outta them and always take them for dinner or ice cream. Growing up around these cars my whole life, and only being 33 years old, my dad and family always just drove them. Never really thought of them as shrines so that question always gets me stumped. She then explained to me on the way home that most don't even take them outside anymore and no one she knows drives their cars when they are as nice as mine and enjoys them. I always just say hey if it gets chipped up I will paint it in another 15 years or so no biggie. Guess you just forget how many people don't drive em much anymore. I get it too that you don't wanna leave it in a WalMart parking lot, but taking it for a spin for the day is just too enjoyable to not do it.

As for the Daytona you mentioned, yea who knew they'd be crazy priced cars at that time. Hell I was still in diapers when all that was going on, and man do I wish I could have seen more of these cars when they were enjoyed and driven and treated as cars and not museum pieces. Even when I get done redoing my 68 Runner, I can't just let it sit and will have to drive the wheels of it.

Thanks for sharing RC! You definitely have a wonderful stable. Also, a very good taste in cars.:thumbsup:
