Help needed pinion angle

If the trans is down -3* and the pinion is up +3* u r at +6*, there is no way it will cancel themselves out the pinion is already the wrong way. Am I missing something? Kim
Kim, Yes you are overthinking the whole scenario. Say your number is zero.........Then you minus 3 and add 3, you still have zero.

Three wood, that’s totally *** backwards. The pinion raises under acceleration. Tranny down 3. Pinion should be do 4.5-6. Kim
Kim, Yes this would be corrrect in the at rest mode..........Three wood was in the wide open throttle mode. Same thing, two different scenarios. Ain't this fun? You both end up with the same angle.

We can say the same thing 10 ways and in the end means the same thing

OK. Let me throw a monkey wrench in here. Can I assume a pinion angle the same as the trans angle if I had a Cal Trac setup?
I think so.
Mike
Travis at Calvert recommends 4-4 1/2 more negative (down) angle at the pinion compared to the trans when using Cal Tracks.

At wot with the axle wrapped. You are right but you are starting with the axle at rest. We both agree that the trans and rear end need to end up parallel under acceleration.

Does anyone have verified axle wrap numbers for different leaf springs behind different engines?

But the op is concerned about noise and vibration on decel, meaning he might have the nose of the pinion too far down now, as pinion goes further down on decel.

Did he ever come back with his trans and pinion numbers?

Exactly what I stated in post 6. He needs to buy some shims and experiment raising the pinion up.
