Peter, I bought this Pulley and Pump from you. I'm not sure which way the pulley is intended to be mounted on the pump shaft. It is possible for me to mount it either of two ways shown in my photos. Which way is correct, the Photos labeled "A" or "B"? I'm guessing the correct way is "A". But I want your confirmation on whether that is correct or not.

It mounts where it aligns with the crankshaft pulley. Version A.
Don't believe me? Mount the pump and then test fit the pulley to see if it aligns with the crank pulley.

It's not quite aligning with my crankshaft pulley in either A or B, BUT it is closer to correct alignment with A. To get it to align perfectly I will probably need to use the studs that are already mounted to the Bergman pump, instead of the ones that came with his mounting bracket kit.

The studs you write of are used to mount the Y shaped bracket.

Yeah, the rear bracket. You should see the bizarre pulley to pump arrangement of the old Saginaw pump that was in this car when I got it. They had to use long spacers to attempt to line the pump pulley up to the crank pulley, and it was still misaligned (too far foward).

The studs on the pump might be metric, hence the other set. I forget why, but I did change them on mine.

You may need to use spacers or washers to get the alignment right.

A is correct, you want the part the pulley puller tool hooks up to facing out in the event you need to pull the pulley off.

I used the studs that were already on the pump. I did not use the studs that were included with the mounting bracket kit.. I did mount the pulley in orientation A shown at the beginning of this thread.

If I had used the studs in the mounting bracket kit, the steering pulley would not have been aligned properly with the crankshaft pulley. In my test fitting it would have been positioned aft of the crankshaft pulley using the mounting bracket kit studs.

I did have to add two of my own washers between the front mounting bracket and the water pump housing to get proper alignment.

Compare with the pump that was on the car before I started the swap. It had long spacers between the front bracket and water pump housing. And the pump pulley was misaligned, being too far forward of the crankshaft pulley.

Glad you have it worked out. Normally, the studs in the package with the brackets work best.
