2, 3, 4, blades, it doesn't matter, they seem to get dull as soon as you open the package. Seems like i'm buying packs every time i'm at the store. I'm tempted to buy an ol school straight razor, or double edge razor. Probably cheaper/ better in the long run anyway.

I've had good luck with the Bic orange disposable razors
for sensitive skin, (getting harder to find that specific style)
it's a single blade lasts a few weeks, used it for decades now
I get or am prone to razor burn really easy on my neck
tough course beard & sensitive skin....
Also If you use a good soap & HOT water
or shaving cream not just water
they seem to last a whole lot longer too, softens the beard/hairs
albeit;
I don't shave my whole face, mainly my cheeks & neck areas
I have a goatee & sometime in the winter a full beard

a 12 pack last me a year easily

the ol' double edge throat cutters suck too
getting harder to find blades

I have been sporting a full beard for about 4 years now but when I was shaving all the time I would buy what ever was cheapest and then just resharpen the razors after one or two uses. Just use a piece from an old pair of blue jeans then run the blades backwards down the material 10x's in one direction on the grain, then switch 90* and do another 10. I was using the same disposable razor for at least 4 months...sometimes up to 6 months. Although after a month or two you will need to resharpen it after every shave, but it only takes 30 seconds to do it so it's not that much of an inconvenience.

So potentially a pack of 12 could potentially last me 5-6 years. ;)

Thats pretty cool. Similar to the old barbers leather strap method i suppose.

Exactly!

I also use a similar method to resharpen my exacto knife blades, piece of leather would be best but the fragile nature of the blades and the flexible properties of leather make it a difficult combo so I just use a piece of cardboard. Same as above run the blade backwards a bunch of times, then flip and do the other side.

These last me for months.

Sometimes you get 8 for the price of 4.

I think they are about 6 bucks for 4.

dollar shave club stuff works well....$7 a month

I have a coarse beard, and because I hate shaving it I just get my barber to run the clippers over it. I’m astonished that you guys get so much use out of one razor. I take a minimum of three, and sometimes five disposable razors to shave ONE TIME.
BIC disposables won’t cut my beard at all. Gillette
Trac II’s work the best but it takes a handful of them to shave one time. I had a few different electric shavers. The ones that have like a thin screen foil on them don’t work at all on me, my beard hairs won’t fit in the holes in the screen. The electric razors that that have the three round little cutters work for a bit but the hair is so tough it destroys the cutters in short order.
One time I used up my entire stash of razors and ran out before I was done so had to hit wife’s stash of razors for her legs. She was not impressed.

I’ve been a Mach3 user for ever. Usually have a beard over winter. When shaving clean I would get a week out of each blade. No Saturday or Sunday shaving normally. Having a beard makes those razors last a looooong time.

I shave my head & face with a Venus razor for womens legs. Ran outa blades many years ago for my Gillette Atra & the wife had a new one in the drawer. Never bothered with anything else since. Its light & comfortable. Replacement blades available at Sams club in a 16 pack & I get a year or more outa the pack...
Heres a tip to help with ANY razor.
Store your razor in a small glass with enough baby oil to submerge the blade. I shave every other day-head, face & neck. Spend about a blade a month after doing this, easily doubling the life of the blade.

My dad was the same way. You could sand bondo with my facial hair.
MAn that would be tough to deal with. Can’t imagine. I only shave maybe twice a week. Hate it. I use those Bic or Gillette disposable razors. I’d say they are good for about a month. Wish I could use an electric but they never shave close enough. If I’m going to shave I want it smooth as a baby’s butt.

Anyone using a straight razor ?
I used one for many years but, eventually I got too lazy to strop it and went back to a single blade injector. I use that for the first pass and a double blade for a second/reverse pass. It makes the double blade unit last much longer. I do still use a mug with soap and a brush. I use up all the slivers of soap the family generates, cuts down on waste.

It doesn’t matter what type you get if you don’t dry it off every time you use it the blades will “rust“. I dry my blades off every time I shave and I can get 5-10 shaves out of each razor. Try it

I agree with Mikey after running hot water put the wife's hair blower on the blade for about 20 seconds of blades last practically forever
