I have not seen many 2 tone coronets around. Could you guys please verify my paint code for me? And if it is a 2 tone car was the roof the first code then the body the second code. And if any one has any more info on this that would be great.
Thanks!

Thanks. Does anyone have any pictures of two tone coronets. I can't find any

Also does anyone know what the 1 and 6 are under the U and W on the fender tag?

#1 under u is special order. Not dealer stock.

u/1 = code 691 = Not special order but ordered. It means someone ordered this particular car and is waiting for delivery. Expedite = build this one before a sales bank car.

w/6 = 696 = (likely) built for sale in Canada.

What's the difference between a special order and an ordered car? They are both sold cars that are built to buyer's specs.

Good question. People often confuse ordered with special order.

People forget how cars were ordered at that time. Buyer's went to a dealer, reviewed the sales material, sat down with the salesperson and checked off numerous boxes on an order sheet. Today, most 'options' are prepacked and the optional choices much smaller than 50+ years ago.

If I simply checked the boxes on the order sheet, my car was simply an ordered car. There was nothing out of the ordinary about my request. No special construction, care or oversight of the construction was required. There was nothing different or 'special' about the order. It was a routine order within normal ordering parameters.

If I ordered the car but wanted a color not normally offered on my make and model, AND it was possible to get that color, (Say an Imperial only color on my Satellite.) that would be a special request and special order. If I wanted a combination of exterior and interior color that was available but not recommended, that would be a special order. Think of 'special order' meaning over and above normal procedures.
