Anyone answer this 68-70 gas cap question???

I have this same cap Nos in the box and have now seen 3 others for sale and all are marked (Non Vented) but when opened up The actual gas cap it is marked "Vented" on cap... Factory screw-up?? Thoughts?

The factory flip top gas cap is vented with a small vent line running into the frame rail. So the locking gas cap that fits under the cap and in the filler neck pipe doesn't change it to non vented because the locking gas cap doesn't seal any gas vapors. I think? So am I wrong? Or is the flip top gas cap vented? So is the vent tube into the frame rail for extra venting? Back in the day. When I had my 70 r/t se. I never heard pressure venting from the gas cap when I popped open the flip top cap and that's with and without the locking gas cap installed.

If your tank filler is located behind the license plate. The gas cap needs to be non vented. This prevents gas from coming out a vented gas cap on these style tanks. The tank has its own 2 separate vents. I would think on a flip top Charger cap, that cap would need to be vented. The main importance is the actual tank being vented or not.

Actually 68 to 70 Chargers have a vent line from just under the cap on the filler neck to inside the frame so the cap is also non-vented

10-4, I used to own a 1950 Chevy. It was vented exact the same.
