Nice work!

I used to build them when I was a kid. I still have most of them.

When my basement workshop is finished, I have a few that I want to build; including a 78 1/8 scale 'Vette Pacecar and a turbine car.

I also want to build all the cars that ran around the town I grew up in.

Used to until I got my driver's license lol. Had quite a collection but it's all gone now. Most of my stuff got 'lost' when I went into the military........

I did until 19. Bought a bunch kits 10 or 12 when a hobby shop $2 each, never built. Also had an 1/8 scale 65 Vette, sold them to a model dealer for $400.:D

That was a passion of mine back in the day. Lepages and testors glue. Mmmmm. Smelled really good. :). Then the paints. I think I know why my parents thought I was on something. :D

To me, I equate building models as getting my feet wet for the real thing. I tried to build a couple models years ago, but I no longer have the desire and patience for painting all that small stuff.

My wife got me one for my birthday last month. It didn't take me long to realize that I no longer have the eyesight for all the TINY parts that came with it. The box says for ages 10 and up. I call BS...should be for ages 10-35. After that there is no chance you're gonna be able to see what you're doing!!! Getting old sucks!

Not since they made the glue "safe". In the 1970's built several models. Shill have some unbuilt, and even some still unopened that I think I got later from or for my kids.

I use to as a child
then when I moved to Alaska in 1984, great for long cold nights
when there's nothing else to do or do it with :poke:
I gave all them away, when I moved back here 1986

a whole lot cheaper than the real deal
I did still buy a bunch of Die-casts, from Tool Trucks

I would buy a few models just to get certain parts
certain models had great engines or great wheels & tires etc.
I Frankenstein-ed a shitload, to get the looks I wanted

I went thru the drag-car stage & the Monster Truck/4x4 stage
muscle cars of every make, cool old concept cars
& Big Daddy Ed Roth show cars

When I was in Alaska I had a great hobby shop in the shopping center
next to the Apartments I managed
They knew me, by 1st name
they'd special order stuff all the time too

too bad you can't drive them :poke:

Usually build one or two over the winter months. Good way to keep the detail skills up. Nice looking start on the Bee.

My nephew came by this weekend with the coolest model Ive ever seen. It is a back to the future delorean all metal out of England. Get a subpart or subsection every month over 18 months or so. He had the chassis with him. All metal and best I could tell exact.

I built dozens of plastic models from about 10 into my late 20's. Mostly cars, but quite a few aircraft as well - had about 10-12 planes hanging from the ceiling in my bedroom as a kid. Used to take the old models and blow them up with firecrackers and bottle rockets.

4th of July about 25-30 yrs ago we were in our first house so I was an "adult". I took an old car model out to the sidewalk and started stuffing firecrackers in it and setting them off. Within minutes I had 2 other neighbors come out of join the fun and one of them brought out a big model of a 3-masted sailing ship. So now there's 3 25-30 yr old guys blowing stuff up and having a blast.

I bought a bunch of Mopar kits when they started getting harder to find in the big box stores. Haven't put one together in years, but still have them for "some day".

Did this for years. I still have a closet full of ones I never did build

I have the monogram model that has a picture of a 71 Hemi Cuda but the box calls it a 1970. Box is still factory sealed, never opened it to see what it really is inside. When the die cast models came out, they were all done much better then I could do so I bought them. When I was in the service I built a 64 Dodge and painted it candy apple red. Now who has time to build a model when the real cars take up so much time.

When I was 15 my mother bought me a 1/8 scale 69 Charger. It took me months to finish it was the most detailed model I ever built. I would like to build another one just like it

Built them all the time and still have them. Still have my strombecker slot cars too. Been dragging them with me seen I was 10, all that I have.

I think this is a great hobby. I'll be 55 soon and still enjoy building them. Cars and planes get boring sometimes so I build a variety. I spend an hour or 2 in the am weekends before I can wake up the neighbors or the family. Here are some cars over the life time. The dusty ones obviously are older builds except the super pursuit. I threw in the Seaview to see if anyone remembers. I put lights in it and detailed the inside some.

I assembled a lot of models when I was a kid. They helped me understand how cars were put together. I really enjoyed it. A couple of years ago it dawned on me that I had never built a model with my daughter (who's 28 now). That really bugged me. So, in March when she spent a week with us at the beginning of the pandemic, we put together a little diecast Daytona I had sitting around in the box for a lot of years. She took it home to Chicago. Then we started a '71 Hemi Cuda. We haven't finished it yet, but we've worked on it a couple of times when she's been here. We've really enjoyed it - not just something she's humoring the old man with. LOL Here are a few pics.

I have a 1968 Roadrunner model car , new in the box. I've had it for many years, and intended to make it look like my 68 Roadrunner that we ordered new. Not sure if the current glue will work on the old plastic. Also , can someone make it look like a vinyl roof? Now I can't see well enough to put it together...Anyone interested in building it for me? ........................MO
