I heard or saw a similar story about the original Hemi Under Glass. Built as a competitive racer, but was more successful as a wheelstander. I remember my Father-in-law had old Hot Rod magazines and one had the H U G on the cover with all 4 wheels off the ground.

I believe they are now both owned by the same person

Is it just me, but I've always been able to "feel" when a hemi was in the vicinity -
there's a cadence to them, a thump to them that even the built ones still retain?
You can hear one coming almost...

This one has been my screen saver off and on for years. I took the pic around 69-70 and it's all over the net now. If you look close at the LRW, you can see it's a bit off line as it's coming up and by the time I snapped the pic and started turning away from the guard rail, he was THERE! Got a good blast of pea gravel and exhaust along with the announcer saying something about I needed an vacant porta potty to shake out my jeans in lol. Was asked if it scared me and well, it happened too fast for that....
Years later I talked to him and told him about it and he said that happened a lot over the years. Got an autographed pic hanging in my not so clean room....

As much as I love my 440+6bbl, and my Roadrunner will always be "RB"+6bbl powered, and I like the stories about the 440+6bbl stock vs stock Hemi on the street being fairly equal, I know that the farther away from stock you go, the wider the gap in performance gets.

Used to turn my 440 (with Hemi rods ) 7300 on the top end on every pass. Took it out the back door once just to see if it would still pull beyond 73 and it was still pulling damn good at 7500 but didn't have the nads to stay in it any longer lol. Pulled it apart at the end of the season and could see signs of cap walk. Wasn't bad but not that good.....
