It's hard to believe how much good, prepared food restaurants must throw away. Are doggie bags still out there?

If you tell them it is a Doggie Bag they will even pile some leftovers from other tables for you.

Around here, they will give you a container for leftovers if you ask, but they no longer take your food away and return with the container. For health reasons, you have to fill it yourself.

Funny story we were at a family dinner (sister's house) we finished eating and I asked for a doggy bag !
My brother's wife ( newly from Vietnam) got excited that we were going to eat dog!
We got a good laugh she didn't understand we had to explain what a doggy bag was
