The auto repair shop next to me used to be strictly a carburetor shop & when I popped in there this afternoon, he showed me his new stash. Apparently he bought out another carb guy in NH & got all his old parts.

I can only imagine a shovel loader dealing with that pile.
Someone has invested time and effort just in building that pile that came from elsewhere.
I am reminded of an auto wrecker yard I went to once. His place was a huge barn that had piles like this that were segregated into piles in repose like this. -Each pile was carefully distinct.
A pile of water pumps,- starter motors, Intake manifolds, ETC.
What made me smile in this instance was when I asked the proprietor for a rather common part. He instantly told me he did not have it.
I looked at the vast piles of his merchandise and asked him if he was sure what I needed was not somewhere in a pile. He promptly told me he knew what he had and what I needed was not to be found in his stash.
When I see a pile of carbs like this it makes me think about searching through a few hundred pounds of spare change looking for a coin that may have value above face value.
