I've had mixed luck with it.
I had a few cups with rusty and greasy nuts and bolts. I poured the Evaporust in the cups and let them sit a few days.
I drained and rinsed out the cup. The grease was still there, the thin layer of rust washed off.
Another time I had a #402 oil pan with surface rust on the inside. I poured some of this stuff in and scrubbed it with a red Scotch Brite pad. My hands got really clean and most of the surface rust came up.
Today I was going to replace the melted bulkhead plug in the project car. The spring clips that hold it in place looked a but unsightly so I put it in a container to soak overnight.
What is in this stuff anyway? Vinegar ?

Don't know whats in it but it works pretty well, I've done brake calipers & master cylinders, lots of hardware, suspension parts... It works allot better if you keep from putting greasy parts in it.... De-grease first then soak in evaporust....

I've used it a few times. Stuff works great on the rust. Like R/T just said,, get the grease off first. They say its biodegradable.

Here is my driveshaft after soaking in a 4” pvc tube. Cleaned first with oven cleaner and then evaporust removed 50 years of rust. The stuff works pretty good.

Molasses works and so does vinegar. Vinegar works good in small engine gas tanks that have condensated and rusted if you ever need to clean one out.

Molasses.

It's nothing like molasses.... It doesn't look like molasses, it doesn't smell like molasses, it's far more effective than molasses.... So I'm gonna say no it's not molasses....

An internet search produced this...
It is a proprietary formula but many people believe the main ingredient to be the chemical " ethylenediaminetetraacetate or EDTA ".

I thought molasses is black and gooey.

It’s not molasses, but molasses does work good on rust. Evaporust is environmental friendly. You can pour down drain or on ground when finished with use.

Why pour it anywhere? I've had the same three gallon bucket for about five years now & it still works great....

Before I bought it I bought five gallons of molasses, it wasn't even close to being as effective & that crap stank....

I started using it a few years ago for small parts and things that I didn't want to blast. The one thing that I really love using it for is rusted light sockets for park and tail lights. Drop the park light in there over night, rinse and clean with a tooth brush and then dry with an air nozzle. Makes them look and work like brand new. Doesn't hurt the finish on the light housing. Awesome stuff.

Pretty good on rust, doesn't remove paint (at least not 50 year old enamel).

i find it to work fantastic, untill it gets real dirty.... it seems to work better if its warm or i leave it in the sun for awhile, great stuff

I’m a fan. Works good until it gets dark. Cast iron seems to make it lose its effectiveness quicker. It’s great when your try to investigate and find paint marks and stamps. Degrease first.
