I just read about the new cross bolt main caps from Milodon. Talk about a slick design. I don't have a link but, it shouldn't be too difficult to find.

Yep, cross bolted are from the side of the block. Like a Gen 3 Hemi. You can see the row of bolts above the pan rail. Disregard the circled hole on the front. LOLThe listing for mopar shows a cross bolt style and splayed for other makes. To me a cross bolt is like a 427 Ford , couldn't find any pics on that web page of their version of a cross bolt. Interesting.
Aftermarket cross bolt mains have been available for a long time. I had my low deck 512 block cross bolted 20 years ago when it was built the first time.I just read about the new cross bolt main caps from Milodon. Talk about a slick design. If you had to throw a number at it, how much time, money is involved in the work to do that nowadays on an RB blockAftermarket cross bolt mains have been available for a long time. I had my low deck 512 block cross bolted 20 years ago when it was built the first time.

I can't do it as I only have an align hone, and you need to align bore the block due to the amount of mismatched material. The last GM 350 I sent out to get done was $350 though. If you had to throw a number at it, how much time, money is involved in the work to do that nowadays on an RB block
