Sticky on tire and rim fitment?

Maybe I'm an asshole but damn do I get tired of all the "will this tire/rim fit my car" threads! Seriously, it's easier to figure out what will fit than just about every other aspect of working on these cars, is it just laziness? How about a sticky to show everyone how to do it on their own with only a straight edge and tape measure?

Perfect timing as I have a set of brand new rims without tires on them yet, it will make for great illustrations. Once I finish up this drywall I'll head to the garage and get er done.

I did a short (for me) suggestion post
not really getting into specifics
I didn't know all the details,
he had just put 3" wider inner tubs in
wanted to know what backspacing he can go with

we need more info/details too

a great tip
whenever someone asks or wants to know, to get help
they need to
include all the mods they did
so it doesn't have to go back & forth constantly
reasking/reanswering the same questions
spring location ?
suspension mods ?
narrowed rear housing ?
stance/height ?
stock inner or outer wheel tubs ?
wheel & tire 'style' preferences ?
etc.

You might have to start at the beginning and show how to use a tape measure. Then how to measure wheel width correctly and backspace correctly.

Click on the second link that I posted, it has a picture of how and where to do the measuring from. If you can't use a tape measure, you should resign from this hobby...
With all the variables there are that Budnicks listed (a lot of good things to think about) we will need a new Forum, not just a sticky.
Just need the procedures to do the calculations, snd people will just need to do something for themselves, not just rely on someone else to do the work for them.
The wheel manufacturers are a great source to find out what their products fit. Just have to contact their Tech Dept.
That is what their job is.

I doubt that Joey will open up yet another forum but if the Sticky stays unlocked, it'll become pretty much the same thing. Also, I think the Tires and Wheels forum would be a good place to place a question on the subject.....?

I get that it's their job but with a few simple measurements one can figure it out really quick an eliminate all of the guess work.

This is my point, none of the mods matter when the owner actually gets under the car and measures it themselves... Measuring takes all into account.

He's getting rims for Christmas, I've been working on this truck for quite awhile now. With dad living right across the road he stops in and checks it out often. He's finally starting to ask when it will be done so I think he's getting excited.
