Hi Guys,

I have a band new dash pad but unfortunately it not the correct colour. what type of paint would i use on this and whats the process to complete this task?

thank you

I think they make stuff from many different plastics. To repair a bumper cover, I searched the internet and found it was polypropolene while other models of the same make and year were made of ABS. The PP called for a certain adhesive. Your dash may have markings that identify what it is made of. When you know that info, you can find a paint that is compatible.

What year, model, and what colour is your pad supposed to be. We sprayed our black dash with PPG Hot Rod black using a flattened.
Dash pad, I used SEM prep, and SEM Colour Coat flexible coating. Have also used Herb`s. There are others also.

I did my visors with Herb's, just cleaned them.
But for the dash pad the SEM stuff might be a better choice.

I used SEM upholstery paint to change the Coronet's interior from saddle tan to black. Used their rattle can Landau Black. Its all about the prep work. In addition to the paint you need to clean the material then use vinyl degreaser and lastly an upholstery primer. I used a grey Scotchbrite pad with the degreaser to get into all the nooks and crannies.
It's been five years and the drivers side arm rest has a few flakes, but the lower dash pads and door cards still look great.

I used Herb’s to dye a recovered 68 coronet dash from black to maroon.
It came out nice, but it has only been a year, so I can’t speak to longevity.

I hear good things about SEM, but I’ve never personally used it

The herbs dye worked great to cover the tan dash I bought. In fact worked and looks 10x better than I expected it to be.

If your looking for a correct Mopar interior color then Herb's is real good.
I've used SEM flexible stain black on soft vinyl such as sun vizors and padded door panels and it works great. Really holds up one soft things but not so well on metal or hard plastic.

Have used both sem and herbs both quality products

I've never used Herb's, but like a couple other guys here, I too changed my interior color - from blue to black. I used the SEM paints for both the hard plastic and the soft vinyl. The customer service at SEM is very helpful, and can tell you exactly which products you'll need and the process for doing it. My interior parts turned out great, and I would recommend SEM to anyone.

I've used sem to turn green interior tan and worked great

If you want a dead on match get the color lot code from Legendary and call Kolor Korrect in NJ. They will mix it for you. Check out Bull dog adhesion promoter also.

I'll second Herb's. Match is dead on and application and adhesion is excellent. They ship fast as well. Just buy more than you think because shipping is a bit high for a single can.

Anyone used OER brand from Classic Industries to paint the dash pad. Also can this vinyl paint be used on the metal on the dashboard or the metal on the back of the glove box door?

I used Herb's to paint the modified (leather) console I installed and have been fine with it. The color match I'd say was pert near perfect. I used another paint brand to do the visors and that color match sucked. Only thing with paint, maybe the dye is another story, can't get any alcohol or other harsh stuff on it. Mild cleaners. The console color looks a shade different, reason being the seats in my vert are over 15 years old now (from Legendary).
