440 Alternative Body choices

C-bodies tend to be available & cheap to purchase
not so cheap to make look nice

A-bodies aren't too crazy 'yet'

even the early to mid 60's A-bodies,
not anywhere near as popular or as expensive
should be able to find one cheap enough

there's always a D-100
albeit they are getting priced out of relm too
a rusty ol' Dodge Van may be an alternative

there's always the Rat Rod craze, not really my deal
but it's an option

old Jap Crap box from the 60's 70's mini truck
or 2dr sedan/HT
light, lots of fab work to keep you entertained

Mini Van converted to rear wheel drive with the 440 mounted inside the van behind the driver/passenger seats.

Fitzees Fabrication on YT is putting a gen 2 or 3 in a toyota

I would hunt down a old Nova or Camaro body, just to screw with the bowtie folks.

There is a 55 Chevy in the Des Moines area with a 383 mopar in it lol.
With the borders shut down and.US to canadian for me i need to purchase in Canada.....but u never know

Check out our "Under 10K for sale" thread, or the "Wish it was closer craigslist" thread on FABO.

Since ALL of those are still too far from me, logic dictates they are all right next to you!

Corvettes make for a pretty good Mopar swap. You can find 74-81's pretty cheap especially not running and they handle fairly well and have decent brakes. I've seen a couple with 340's that work quite well. You'd have to measure to make sure the 440 would fit without issue.

Boy, would that piss off corvette owners! MORE than enough reason to do it!!!
Btw, strangest swap i ever saw was a 440 into a 57 ranchero.
I agree with Darter6, i would look on craigs list, or racing junk, for a gasser candidate.

By no means am I serious keep it in a mopar! It’s like putting a Chevy engine in a Pontiac or a Olds.

Yes i had Ford on my mind too ✌

I would much rather see a Mopar in a 30-something Ford than a GM motor. Having a flathead would be cool too, but that's a different subject. Good Luck

440 in a van, local guy in the early 70's did a 454 chevy in a 60's Ford Econoline. Had a little trouble with overheating but that was solvable. Don't know what rear he had in it but he had tires that were 15 or 16 inches wide. Could do wheelies like nothing.
