I remember the good old days of junk yard crawling 30 years ago. As previously stated, there was a lot of stuff in there that would be salvageable now. Weird stuff too. One yard had a 1968 Barracuda in it with the 340 and 4-speed intact. Another yard had a 1971 Chrysler 300 with dual air, with the extra evaporator in the trunk over the rear axle hump. One yard had a 1966 Coronet 500 hardtop. Bucket seats and console were standard equipment in these, but in 1967, console became an option. This car had 318 with 3-speed stick on the column. The standard equipment console had no shifter in it, with a blank decorative plate where you would expect to see a shifter. There is also a 1966 Charger in the area equipped this way.
I used to get some good deals too, being a frequent customer. Some of the counter guys knew me by name. I got a 4-speed hump out of a smashed '68 Road Runner for $5.00 for my one-of-none 1967 R/T station wagon project. Another yard had a complete, but terminally rusty, 3-seat wagon that they said I could have anything I wanted off it for inclusive price of $65.00. I got the whole interior, a good rear door, tailgate. and instrument panel. One yard had a really rusty 1966 Coronet sedan in the back row, but the front fenders were very solid. Further investigation revealed that they were fibreglass. $50.00 for the pair. Sold! They went on my wagon as well.
