Heat Shield

DSC05526.JPG
yes, unpainted

Did you find any foil type insulation under intake manifold?
Yes that was factory! It prevented the heat from hot oil from heated the fuel in the intake! Simple explanation! After awhile it became oil soaked and discarded! IMO it probably worked better than the insulation! BTW there was also a small shield attached to the to the front of the valley pan!

Probably so...Steve you mentioned a shield in front valley pan? Isn't that the thin square of metal that is used in the rear valley pan to help secure that flat insulation? Secured with the 3 small bolts?

It was located at the rear on my Cordoba....

So Rarefish your car had the half round shield on passenger side manifold as well as drivers side?

I probably got it wrong on showing the half round shield sitting on the right side manifold. Do you think it is really a left side manifold heat shield?

Yes, there's only one used and it's job is too shield #7 plug boot. This one pictured does #8.

Anyone know what these tapped holes are for? One at rear of each manifold. The forward most one secures the half round shield driver's side. Maybe used for heat shield in diff application.

Ok but I am a little confused...You already have the passenger side shield right? The one in the photo?
