So, I have to ask the Mopar Gods what was the rhyme or reason in a B-Body if you
did or didn't have sail panels on your car? I have seen pic's on-line with it both ways.
I don't remember if mine did or not, but the gripper teeth are there, but the clip and square
sheet metal piece that it attaches to are present. Can I choose to not put them in and
tuck the headliner in some way? Thanks for any help!

Are you putting in a new interior or just freshening up? Depends on what you think is good for you. Do you have the panels?
:xscuseless:
:thumbsup::jackoff::rofl:

Everything new. The new headliner is from ACME through Year One and it doesn't come with the separate pieces
to cover the panels(If I had them). I'm just wondering what cars got what? I could buy the panels and cover them,
but I'd like to know who got what.

OK, You would think those panels would be part of a complete interior . Are the panels available? Did the car originally have them?

As I stated before, I don't remember what was in it when I took it apart, but The clips and the piece
that's glued to the sail panel are installed in the car like they've been there from the factory. The
gripper teeth are present but when you order a new headliner, the new material is not supplied.
You have to order it seperately.

I bought my car in a million pieces, when it came time for the headliner the local upholstery shop made and installed mine... I didn't find out until later that there was such a thing lol. Honestly I like the way he did mine, looks cleaner IMO.

Being that she's a GTX, I would think you would have the full sail, Paul. Dont quote me on that one, im just thinking out loud. My GTXer has them.

Yeah Mario, that's what I'm thinkin but would like to know. That square sheet metal piece and the clip have always been there.
I wonder what the bottom edge of the headliner is glued/hooked to?

That...I do not know. Maybe Doug can shed some light? @69Coronetrt

Thinking about this and with different trim levels etc... there may have just been a piece of fiberboard or something similar that the headliner was glued to. Just thinking back over many cars in various condition.

Not to hijack the thread, but any hints on mating the sail panels together with the headliner to make a smooth transaction?? Mine have the teeth, but not looking quite right to me. My interior kit came with the boards and headliner material to cover them. The headliner also still needs to be steamed a bit more to tighten things up, however not sure what is going on here.

Not trying to crash either but you said your kit included those cardboard panels for the sail panels? Maybe the OP has them and overlooked them...

Looks like the sail panels need to be re-done. They need to lay concave with the clip glued to the back
of the panel me thinks. You can pull them off and stretch the headliner a little more to get the wrinkles out.
Other than that, looks pretty good.

My entire kit was from legendary and the sail boards were in the box with the headliner if I recall correctly.

I thought about using the glue substance off of a mouse glue trap to stick it to the inner body structure :D

O.K., I just called Legendary and talked to their Guy who installs these headliners. He explained
that the 68's headliners all go down to the package tray. There is an unfinished sail panel board
under the headliner that has one clip holding it in place but it is NOT glued to the headliner.
It is there for support. The headliner actually gets glued to the top of the sheet metal piece that
the decorative package tray sits on top of. At the front corner where the package tray meets the
seat back, there is a relief cut and the rest of that part of the headliner is glued to the inside of
the quarter window well. Now all I have to do is find some blank sail panels for a 68.
