The engine date is reported wrong. 17 is the 17th. Day. The month would be spaced over further to the left. In the photo below you can faintly see another stamping under there. when I blow it up I can see something under the paint but cannot read it clearly. Look at your blocks the month and day are spaced apart from each other.
Bob, clean off the pad and see what the month is.
The original paint looks like code M turbine bronze. When he is showing the trunk lid from the side and he points out the original paint you can see the sheet metal number stamped in there. If you look they are all over these cars.
How are you going to stop a car with the chute mounted to a cut up trunk lid? Possibly the lid was cut later, or it wasn’t ever used.
I doubt the doors were acid dipped and then the stock door panels and wing frames installed again with the plastic plugs covering the mounting holes. See second photo below. They will feel much lighter with the stock glass removed like these have.
