Hey there I have a 70 Road Runner. Factory drum brakes. I stumbled across a website. Muscle car brakes.com that make Matrix ceramic brake shoes. Anyone running them? I keep telling my self I’m going to do disc brakes. Money is low.

I haven't tried them, but I've been looking at ceramic shoes for mine too

There is nothing wrong with properly done drum brakes. They are inexpensive to fix, work well for most driving and will get you down the road until money is more plentiful.

i have these brake shoes and they are great. you may have a problem as they get the mettle from Canada and with our new leader cutting the pipe line they cant get the mettle . hope you get some.

Drums can work fine, I used 10" drums on my '65 Coronet drag car. It would stop just fine from 125 MPH+. But discs are nice.

Thanks everyone I’ll think I’ll give the shoes a try. It’s a whole lot less expensive than a disc conversion. Turn the drums , flush the brake system and see how they work!

If you decide to go with them, will you give us a before and after comparison?

Back in the day, I used the really cheap shoes on my '65 Coronet drag car. They were soft and stopped very well. Durability was not a concern. Every year I would "freshen" them up with a little coarse sand paper to break any glaze. Stopped the car pretty darn well.

My 63 Sport Fury has stock power drum brakes. I just use normal brake linings and I also race the car sometimes and it stops fine from 10.70's at 125 mph. Been driving it on the street like this since 2006 when I put it on the road. Ron

I have the stock manual drums on my 69 Sport Satellite and I've had no issues. I've had to do a few panic stops over the years and it does get sketchy but that's once in a blue moon. With the stock 318 2 barrel I don't drive crazy. Same with my 65 Coronet /6.

I'm installing a stage 3 kit from MCB on my 1969 Road Runner. The car is a long way from running, so I'll need to report back once I actually know how well they work, but John has been an absolute pleasure to work with -- really great customer service.
