The Carlisle 2021 thread

We live up by Cleveland, Ohio. It's about a 4-4.5 hour trip for us. We head out on Thursday morning and then on Saturday around 3 we head home

@MSBoyd, in regards to your questions, if your trailering a car to the fairgrounds, you might want to reserve a trailer parking / camping spot adjacent to the facility. There is no longer any onsite trailer parking, but the Spring Street lot is very close, within walking distance and it is monitored 24/7. That way, you can drop the tow vehicle and trailer if you are wanting to drive the car over the weekend or you can load it up each day for security. Some of the lodging locations do not have really large parking areas for the number of trucks and trailers showing up.

The show has changed over the past couple of years. More and more people are arriving on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. By mid afternoon on Saturday, you can start to see everyone packing up. By 8:00 PM on Saturday, there is a good number of the swap meet vendors and show cars already left the grounds. Sundays are typically of most of the larger shows now, it is a travel day for people to get back home.

Being that this may be your first year attending, you might find it more enjoyable to attend without the car. Bringing a car, will potentially mean spending more time with the car. There is so much to see within the two to three days, that the weekend is gone before you know it. The show hopefully will be somewhat back to Pre-Covid days, but still not what we experienced back in 2019. Hopefully you can come out and witness a really good event for the Mopar world.

Thank y'all very much as this information helps a lot with with understanding which days are best as well as trailer parking issues! I just rebuilt the engine and no working AC which is the reason for the trailer. 69bfan it is the year for 71's so I have to bring it! But no worries about me sitting on it as I have had it a long time and honeymoon days are in the past. I normally park the car and then I am off, with the car as a rest stop when needed.

If you can bring a EZ up or some type of sun shelter.
I know you are from Texas but that week seems to always be really hot in Carlisle.

Yes, I typically set up my car and then go cruise around and check out the sights. I have also left my car on the show field and just put a car cover on it. However, most people remove their cars every day.

Agree. A sun shelter is highly recommended as the sun can be brutal after awhile. However, just make darn sure it is very securely fastened to the ground. The wind can get really strong really quickly and a sun shade blowing across the grounds is NOT a good thing!!!

Seeing that this will be the 50th Anniversary of the 71 model year and that the 50th was not really celebrated last year for the 70 year model, I feel that this will probably be the last really large turnout of the true performance years. We are all getting older and it will be much tougher to pull together a really strong showing of 72 model year cars for 2022.

I disagree, I think it was celebrated rather nicely last year for the 50th.....

Also I highly suggest bringing LOTS of water, sunscreen, and maybe an extra pair of clothes too incase you sweat a lot

And I also forgot, maybe bring your own food/lunch too. The lines for food are normally a disaster in my opinion and the prices are normally a rip off

I am not saying that the event did not celebrate the 50th anniversary for the 70 model year, but that the turnout would have been much greater had not Covid impacted the event. I know of a number of cars and owners who did not attend in 2020, but plan on attending in 2021.

The Fairgrounds diner is really good place. (And it's air conditioned...)

Thanks for the heads up and great points on canopy, sun protection as well as food situations. Years ago we lived at car shows so we have all the goodies. I am seeing if the local club has any interest, but this is a 22+ hour trip one way so the time, fuel and hotels adds up quickly!

I'm hoping to have our '68 Charger done for the 2023 show because I'm assuming there will be a 50th anniversary of the 1973 model year and some sort of mention of the 55th anniversary of the 1968 model year as well since '73 wasn't a huge performance year...

I think the 60th anniversaries will be the focus in the next few years.

Sounds like a great car - thanks for registering! If you haven't already, I'd greatly appreciate if you included FBBO as your car club. Maybe one of these years we will actually be able to cover the cost of the tent!!!

Here is the current listing that I have for those who are currently planning on attending the July event. If I have missed anyone, do not wish to be listed or have updated information pertaining to your attendance, please send me a message. We are only 75 days out and they will go by quickly. As Hawk suggested for those who have not registered and plan on attending, please consider marking FBBO is your club of choice. If you have already registered and failed to register under a club, you can still update that status. I am pretty certain that this is the most number of FBBO registrations as compared to past years, but still a bit off to qualify for the free tent.
