Bad, bad.. horrible night!

Glad to hear he is on the mend. Reminds me of when Sasha, the Rotty we had in the late 90's, got hit. Her left thigh was shattered. It took 3 surgeries to save it. One thing I learned is don't put any flea meds on/in them when they are recovering. It can cause the bone healing to not happen.
I had a Rott named Natasha, her mother's name was Sasha lol. Must be a thing with naming German dogs with a German sounding name. Both were great dogs, both lived full lives and both were smart enough to not chase cars.

Sasha wasn't chasing. She was laying on the asphalt when she got tagged by an old guy who lived up the street from us in a mobile home park. He was looking at me and didn't see her. It was my fault she was there. I played hooky from work so I could go to the Spring Fling in Van Nuys. Was washing the truck prior to the trip. We feel that the only reason she was able to keep the leg is that my wife had found a black Shepard pup on a road going through the local reservation. Jake, the pup, would yank on the leg to "help with her PT". She would get pissed at him, snap/snarl and then he would do it again. It stayed and those two were quite the pair.

As many have stated, so very glad that this accident turned out the way it did and your dog is going to be OK. Not much touches my old heart as much as a pet dog or cat. Our domestic animal friends are almost always better and much more loyal than human friends. Glad your buddy is on the mend!

Glad to hear he is going to be okay! One tuff old retriever! They aren’t just a pet they become part of the clan.. good luck!

Glad he is ok. Who the heck doesn’t stop after hitting a domestic animal though.

As others have said, glad he's on the mend.

When I was growing up our dog got hit by a car. The driver locked up the brakes trying to stop. Unfortunately, the tire was on the dog's foot and wore away two toes on his back leg. But he recovered and was really only ever bothered by it on snow and ice.

Hopefully Bennie will remember this and stop chasing cars. Also, well done by you too for quick thinking and getting him the help he deserved (even if it might have been a shot to end suffering). Glad the shot wasn't needed!

Give that good old boy a tummy rub from me, what a great ending to a very scary situation!

Glad to hear that he's on the mend! Lost a terrier to a car one time but heard the driver went out of his way to tag her. Don't know if he was just trying to scare her or what but he didn't stop either. Morons......at least I got to spend 13 years with her.

The stretch of road along our property line has claimed a few cars, cats, deer, etc. It's a county road with a 55 mph speed limit, headed south you pop over a blind hill right before our stretch.. at 50 mph it's hard to react and people are to stupid to take that into consideration.

Awww, man...I hate to see people have heartbreak with their pets. I'm glad to see that he is as tough as he is.

I hate to see any animal in pain, it generally hurts us as much as they are hurtin.

Now that there is one handsome pup, I sure am glad he’s on the mend. Our good old girl is 13 now, and she just had surgery last Thursday because her ear was all swollen up. It now seems that she can’t hear, which we didn’t find out till after the surgery that older dogs are prone to that from the anesthesia. I don’t know if we would’ve done anything different tho, we tried the medicine route, that did nothing, and it was really bothering her. I’m heartbroken to think rhat she can’t hear me anymore, as she is my girl too. Dogs really are mans best friend, I hope Bennie makes a full recovery!
