Not to pry too much, but what brought this stuff on ?
was there any warning signs ?
was her back related to the same affliction ?
how was it you (or both ?) were exposed to the bacteria ?
by an injury, open wound or water born stuff ?
something in your environment etc. ?

My problem and my wife's problem are totally unrelated. I asked the doctor why this is the second time for the same thing. Cellulitis is a staff infection and in this case I'm told it's a complication of my diabetes, which I have had since my 50's. I've managed it pretty good for the last 35 plus years, but I do have some kidney damage also related and the antibiotics they can give me are limited due to being processed by the kidneys.
My wife's problem is due to herniated discs L 3,4, and 5. The coincidence is that they happened together. There's nothing household related or any airborne bacteria floating around putting us down. I chalk it up to sh*t happens. With God's help we will overcome. Stranger things have happened, but it does sound weird.
