dana 60 gear oil

Is that 80/90?
Wondering where to grab that "Addative" as well!?

Thanks!!
The additive is Motorcraft Friction Modifier, available at a ford dealer, and some parts houses.
Im in a very warm climate here in az, and ca. So i use the 85/140 Torco. I dont use the modifier in my 8 3/4, or nines. The 8 3/4 has a detroit locker, and the nines have spools. I DO use it in my dana 60 clutch posi (snicker!).

Just took another test drive in my diesel and didn't detect any chatter. Didn't go far enough to get any heat into the rear end though so that might be a factor? With the Synthetic it chattered cold or hot and it's a good sign that it's not anymore and I'm glad of that. Using the Mopar additive.....

If its truly a locker, there are no clutches, and you dont need the friction modifier.
Ive got a detroit locker in my 8 3/4. Torco 85/140, no additives.
It’s a limited slip air locker

That's exactly what I put in mine.....and got it off of Ebay for pretty close to the same price as the dealer had it for but I didn't have to drive 25 miles to get it. The only problem is that I paid for 2 bottles and only got one but the dealership that was selling it sent me another which got here within a couple of days. Wasn't quite ready to put it in anyways....in fact it sat here for a good month before dropping out the oil that was in the rear end lol

Good to know!!
I wonder, how MUCH of this 4oz bottle to add to the Wal-Mart 80/90 I attempt to use?

Thanks!!!

ARB doesent recommend using the additive for the reason it eats up gaskets is what was stated I’ll have to find the link and post it
i believe that’s for air lockers only says the additive can shorten the life of the seals in the locker
Yeah, Im thinkin thats why my Diff cover leaks now. Going to try this LubeLocker unit, gasket. Hoping for the best!
Thanks!!!

Well, my Dana 70 holds 3 quarts and I'm thinking it would be fine with a bottle and a half but I dumped both into it. For the 2 quart 8 3/4, go with one and see how it does.....

My diff cover was leaking more with the synthetic and dripping but using the old gasket on a cover that should be using RTV with the regular oil, it's wet but not dripping.....yet lol

BTW, a diff cover that's smooth is supposed to be used with RTV.....and the embossed cover is designed for a gasket. If you have a smooth cover, use a minimal amount of RTV. Most people use WAY too much.
