2 Scoops of Raisan Bran
different strokes & all
if the person that owns it like it great for them
since we're critiquing it,
I assume that's what all this back & forth is all about
it's OK
I don't completely hate it on a Charger
it certainly is different,
it's not novel either
it's been done before
someone offered them in fiberglass IIRC
It's not my car I can't make that decision,
to use or buy it
I personally don't think it works with the lines of the car
that's just my $0.02 cent
BUT;
not knowing exactly what it is & how it was built
whether if it is or
it's not functional in the way,
(the org.s
weren't a real
ram air functionality)
meaning it does NOT have openings to let fresh/cooler-air ramed air
into the breather or thru the carbs (not sure on that specific hood)
like Devlin's custom-built shaker does
or a 6 pack/6bbl hood does
or the Ramcharger or Air GRabber hoods did/do
--------------------------------------------------------
yes it covers the engine bay, I doubt that's the functionality
people have referred to here
that's spliting fine hairs, blonde vs redhead
---------------------------------------------------------
Hell I had a blower sticking out of my 68 Charger R/T hood
I cut & hacked that poor org. hood ( I had plenty of them)
I also later had a Harwood 70's style Pro-stock "
functional hood scoop"
(not the snorkel mailslot type)
with a 2x4bbl or an STR 14-6 under it, sealed to the hood for ram air
it was the Late 70's-early 80's
would I do it today, no probably not
not unless I was building an era-correct racecar or something
some people "most VIN/fendertag readers/purists" hated it
I didn't give a ****
they usually were seeing the back of my car anyway
I was young, I did what made me happy...
I also painted the car 77 Corvette Bright Yellow,
now looking back, it's the 'biggest' mistake I ever made
to each their own
do whatever blows your skirt up
whatever makes you happy/smile
who gives a rats *** what someone else thinks
use whatever parts you deem necessary, enjoy the ride
screw the rest
albeit;
until it's time to sell, then you'll care "maybe"
I personally don't build cars 'for sale',
not enough margin 1st off
I build them to fit me & build to suit, my preferences
because I like the car, nothing more or less...
the hobby would be really boring otherwise
