64 Only

Right now leave it as is. I might lightly sand the rust areas and try buffing it like I did on the 64 belvedere HT. I would like to enjoy driving it like this for the summer.

Speaking from experience, you could not restore a project car for that amount. I sold my '64 Polara 500 convertible 4 years ago for more. I figure I broke about even on $$$ investment, but years of work was for free. Someone should buy that car quick and enjoy the heck out of it. They are only original once.
You are spot on. A lot of us who have restoed an old ride can appreciate what it costs that doesn't include the endless hours of time. I've put near $40k in my '63 Fury, a CA car, that doesn't include the HOURS of my time doing it. This is the 2nd car I broke my friggin butt on restoring and at my age the last. More than a fair cash outlay for that gorgeous Dodge! Wow.

Nate can you tell if those hubcaps are red/white/blue? Red or black centers? Thanks

This is one of the hubcaps from that car. Built 4/1/64. I haven’t seen any R/W/B ones that upon close inspection weren’t repainted. Doesn’t mean some weren’t made that way. They changed the tri-color emblem on the deck lid mid year. Maybe this changed too?

383 car??
361 originally. Lore has it the 426 got the R/W/B. That said, I still haven’t seen any that weren’t repainted and the parts manual lists only one. Of course it lists only one tricolor too. If there are two flavors I’d bet it was a midyear change and not a 426 only thing.

***early post, misread the manual***

Ok, that explains it...While in Carlisle I met a guy with a 64 SF 426 that purchased it from the original owner. He sent me a photo of the hubcap a few days later...same guy that informed me of the power steering steering return hose heat shield.

A quick tour of ebay had a vast majority red center/white bars a couple with non-red centers and one in R/W/B.

The one on the cover of Motor Trend in January ‘64 had white bars. Not much question that was an original 426.

I’m sold on the 2 flavors. Not sold on the 426 only.

I think your right, more evidence is needed

Nate can you post a photo of that hubcap from the Motor Trend mag?
