2nd Starter Relay

I have a '69 satellite with 440 and a few options that I don't think would matter in this problem. I have installed my 2nd starter relay and still have to use the screwdriver key to start the car. I get 12 volts from the yellow wire at the relay when I turn key to start the car. Also, read .3 ohms on the wire from the relay to the solenoid. I don't know if that is good or bad, but know it's better than OL reading. I'll also mention that I've been chasing an overcharging problem so I have cleaned and checked continuity on most wires and have made no difference.
Any ideas on what to check next will be greatly appreciated. The most I've come up with is to move the jumper wires inside so I don't have to stand outside the car to start it in front of the Chevy guys.
 
Auto or standard? Auto = neutral safety switch or wires not connected to the ground spade on the solenoid. Standard = the wrong solenoid is installed, as the correct one is grounded at all times. You can use an auto solenoid, but you need to ground the second terminal.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. Using an 833 with a two pole switch on tranny and 4 pole relay.. The NSS switch has not been wired since I owned the car but I have wired this week. I'm sorry but do not know of variations of the solenoid. We are talking starter solenoid correct?
 
Stock type manual transmissions don’t have an NSS, the two-pronged switch would be the reverse light switch. A four terminal starter relay would be used in an automatic trans application or later manual trans with a clutch pedal safety switch. You will need to ground the other primary terminal on the relay to complete that circuit.
 
In essence, a manual trans relay prior to 1970 should only have 3 terminals. Yours has the automatic trans 4 terminal style relay. Ground the bottom right side spade.
 
Thank you both for the information and to dadsbee also. I tried this and still have the problem. I have just replaced the alternator due to overcharging. I will install the 1st replacement relay tomorrow and see if I possibly damaged the current relay. I have some electric issues with lights I'm currently trying to resolve but can't see that they could impact the starting. I'll let you know. Thanks again.
 
Many thanks to you gentlemen again. That's the first time it has started via the ignition switch in some time. Nothing better than people with knowledge who are willing to share.
