HIM: Hi I am Interested in on ee's of the 4 barrel carburetors you have I need 1 to go into my 1971 buick lesabre 350 motor can you also put it on for me

ME: Which carb would you want? The 700 double pumper or the 750 Quick Fuel? I could install it but I don't have an extra square bore gasket laying around. You would also need a Square bore to spread bore adapter..

ME: I think your car may have come with a Quadrajet.

HIM: Ok I will have to get a 4 barrel adapter I guess the 700 will do it's a stock 350 when can you install it?

ME: I don't plan on installing it. I don't have time to tune the carb to your engine for you. Just selling the carb not installing.

HIM: I need it installed will you take 100 for it

ME: I have the carb on there for 200.00 it’s a 600.00 carb you want me to sell it to you and install it for a 100.00 total? Are you crazy? You must be. No thanks.

HIM: I didnt ask you to install it for 100 you must be unable to comprehend because at this point you said you cannot install it so I asked would you take 100 for it because I have to get it installed but you know what just **** it **** you and the carb

ME: You apparently are a moron. You didn’t make anything clear. Your sentences are incomplete and make no sense. The only money you offered was 100.00 if you are too stupid to take off 4 nuts and swap carbs maybe you should not even be driving a car. There are smarter retards that can rebuild a carb. Good luck and have a great day without a carb.

Yep, idiots everywhere! Selling my son’s quadricycle for a measly $150. This is one of the less ideal ones, and I know it’s a language issue, but throw your words into a translator to send something that makes sense! Oh, and I’ve gotten offers for $60, $75. It’s worth a lot more.

lol
I have another but its super long winded. I have a 4.8 LS engine on craigslist and its for sale as well. Guy contacts me about it and wants me to install it. I have no interest in installing this engine and told him up front. I gave him a list of parts he would need to put it in his older chevelle. He kept begging me to install it. He said that his car was getting a 5.3 installed at a less than reputable engine guy in town. I know the piece of crap he his talking about. Anyhow I said dude you are getting a 5.3 installed why in the hell do you want the 4.8 with less power.. He was like the guy is screwing me over and I just want an engine in it. I even tried to help him come up with an excuse to get his car out of the douchebags shop.. Like I said long winded and too much to type but it went on for several days.

Remember when we kept the idiots and crazy people in the attic or the basement?

Man if they kept the crazies in the basement, I would never get to drive my car

You lost control after "can you put it on...".

A simple "sorry, no" would have worked much better.

I've only ever done anything other than exchange an item for cash one time.
I delivered a pair of wheels and tires to the buyer because I was going to my moms house later that week and it was on the way.
I really wanted to get those things out of my shop and they were the only interested party after months on CL and carting them to multiple swap meets.

CL is an interesting place to be sure. There are so many sellers who post 1 picture of something that is not very good or at an identifiable angle with no description, and then they wonder why no one calls. Then there are the seemingly endless stream of wanna be buyers who think that the listed price is at least twice what the item is worth and that the seller must obviously be desperate to sell the item that they will gratefully take whatever is offered but then are greatly offended when they are told "no".

I have sold and bought off of CL many times but all of my deals are straightforward and while I have had a few idiots call/text I have also met some decent (sane) people.

I have dealt with a few things sold on CL and usually not much of an issue. Other than getting ripped off by a car thief. Had a 2012 Fiat 500 which did need an engine. But it still drove and sounded like the bottom end was going to fall out of it. Anyhow I posted it for sale or trade and I got an offer of a dunebuggy. I ended up trading with the guy however it was stolen. I repaired it which was only about 80 bucks in parts and then my wife posted it on facebook. The very first guy that contacted me about the buggy said Im very interested and can come right now. I was like OK come on over.. He comes and says I have good news and bad news for you.

I was like OK lay it on me. The bad news is the car is stolen. The good news he wasn't going to call the cops. Also I should have let him call the cops. I had a bill of sale he had nothing but pictures. He had lots of pictures of when they were building it. And since I only had a scribbled on piece of paper as a bill of sale I told him to take the car. Thats just the right thing to do.. So he got the dun buggy back im out 80 bucks cash and a few hours of messing with it to get it to run. I will never take a car with a bill of sale again. I should have known something was up when the truck and trailer they were driving had temporary drive out tags and the guy "didnt want to drive the car" because at the moment they dropped it off there were 2 local police cars going around the neighborhood looking for a dog that was trying to bite people. But those guys were in a hurry to get gone. But it didnt dawn on me at the time. Looking back at the whole deal I could kick myself in the *** for not paying better attention. Lesson learned. The Fiat was given to me so I had no money in it.
