Home Depot Self Checkout

When they ask if I want to use the Self Checkout I say "No thanks I am using real money".

The explanation is that I disagree with your comments about the self checkout, hence the red X. If someone doesn't like the self check out then step over to the full service line..
The employee discount line was a joke, take a chill pill, dude!!

Here in California anything under $900 isn't considered theft... It you don't have any cashiers why would I pay??? Sadly it does happen...

I think that I should receive the 10% employee discount when I use the self checkout.

A repost.....

DEAR WAL-MART, HOME DEPOT, AND ALL OTHER STORES THAT HAVE SELF CHECKOUT!

You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now.

Yesterday I was at Walmart , the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone.

I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already filled my cart, emptied my cart and scanned the items, refilled my cart and so I just skipped the exit line and left.

I heard her saying "umm - Excuse me “ as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store.

You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be.

• I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you.

• If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine.

• Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities.

YOU DON'T PAY ME TO SCAN MY OWN SHOPPING.

YOU DON’T GIVE ME STAFF DISCOUNT FOR WORKING FOR YOU.

Yep, this has become a growing irritation at the grocery store I've gone to for years. Started with more check-out lines being closed and now it's usually ONE with 3 or 4 people waiting to get checked out. And more often now NONE, forcing me to self-check out. Their self-check area sucks with no room for any quantity of groceries; little counter space. Have to set the bags on the floor as putting in the cart covers the other **** I've not scanned yet! And then there's the stuff with no bar code. If someone had a brain they'd a provided ample space or have empty carts within reasonable reach to use, nope they are on the other end of the store.

Took over grocery shopping 20 years ago after starting my biz having pockets of time to go to the store. Told my better half this chore will include her if I have to keep up with the self-check BS. PIA

I avoid self-checkouts. I like making the young people behind the counter all nervous. They don't know what to say because they are not used to talking to human beings face-to-face. They don't even pretend to laugh at my dad jokes.

Try these ones next time you're shopping.

I wasn’t sure which pasta to buy. Then the penne dropped.

I see you're selling superhero toiletries for kids, like Batman shampoo. Do you stock Conditioner Gordon?

I saw you working in the fabric softener isle last week and now you're at the checkout. What's it like working out of your Comfort zone?

I just saw the guy in Isle 3 stacking alphabet soup. He almost dropped the entire box. That could have spelled disaster.

Yesterday-

Two items at Lowes. A 1x12x8 foot plank and a can of stain. Went to garden center as it was closer to the car.
One customer ahead at staffed register- about 12 bags of soil and some plants, and sod trying to pay with a gift card.
Machine won't take card. Five tries. BS conversation until finally the clerk calls for the manager.
By now there are at least 10 customers behind me.

I see the self check station and step over. It scans my plank twice. I figure out how to remove one and scan the stain.
When I hit "pay now" an error comes up for employee login to "confirm the remove item".
No way to cancel the sale. Good thing I didn't use my card yet.
message displayed "an associate will be with you soon".

Now the human line is backed up and one of two self serve lines is out of service.
I go to the other self serve and finally complete my purchase after waiting for one of the other costumers who'd had enough of the now 20 deep line for the human.

As I pass the locked self serve station, it's still flashing "...with you soon".
I chuckle and say to no one in particular- "I doubt it, because there's still no one here to help with the gift card issue".

Homeless Depot in these parts.

Homeless Depot in these parts.
Won't find Home Depot around Eau Claire WI - Menards is HQ'd there with two stores in the city. They do have more people that can fog a mirror at the check out counters anyway.

I had the same problem with Lowes and the gift card issue, I was told that I have to use the contractor checkout in order to use the card, WTF? I said I'm not a contractor, why can't I use the card here? Queue the deer in headlights look!

The automated phone in is another hoot: Automated voice “How can I help you? Reply: “I want to talk to a human being.” “I’m sorry, can you be more specific?”

I was at Lowes the other day and was asked if I would like to use self check out. I told the guy to **** off, I don’t work here.

Home Depot is one of the big box stores getting hit by the gang theft.

Not always a cashiers at regular registers.

Stopped at Home Depot , Menards didn’t have my proper shower door bottom seal

They had all the self checkouts blocked off and closed with Christmas and Black Friday sales

The trade off - Had to wait in line for 15 minutes to pay for a $5 item - Anyways

Back to the good ole days with less staff - Wonderfull

Looks like Home Depot is shutting down the self checkouts for the Holidays or Permanently going forward
