295/60/15 - Rims and Tires for 69 Super Bee

I‘d like to run bigger tires my 69 Super Bee. Now it has 275/60/15 on 8“ Torq Thrust.
For more rake, I think about 295/60/15 on Torq Thrust rims. Will they fit in? What dimensions will they need to fit? And what backspace? Or is 295/50/15 the maximum?
Any recommendations are appreciated.
 
Pretty sure no one makes a 295 /60r/15

P275-60r15 is 28” tall and p295-50r15 is 26.7” tall

No two tire/wheel combos fit exactly the same. My Cooper 275/60s were 27.5" overall in real life, while my MTs are a true 28". 295/60 might be pushing it....most guys can just fit a 295/50 in there.
Pick out the tires and rims you want to use, get all the measurements you can including the bulge width (that's what will rub) and then get some good measurements under your car to see if they'll go. Keep in mind things move around a bit during driving so try not to cut it too close..

Measurements say, the 275/60 is a tad taller than 295/55 so, I maybe like the bigger wheel a Bit more.
I‘ll have to rethink what I may want…!
 
295/50-15 on a 10” wheel with 5” backspace
clears just fine on my 69” bee.

According to TireSize calculator, there is no such tire as a 295/60 or 295/55. You will have a chance at getting a 295/50 on a 69 bee, because of the more open wheelwell than on a road runner. But, you will need the exact right backspace, and you won't know what that is till you do some measurements and calculations for YOUR car.

Absolutely correct on all counts, but you know nobody wants to do any measuring and calculating themselves anymore. Its just too easy to ask someone else to do it for you on the internet these days.
 
My 69 Coronet fits 30x10 slicks on 10" rims, 6.5" backspace I think. 3400lbs SS springs.
At one time I had 3800# on it and 3.5" backspace and that also fit because it sat higher. The suspension didn't work though because the car wasn't that heavy.
Total width would be over 12", those slicks have a really protruding sidewall.

OK, you really have all the info at your disposal to figure out what you need.
First, a 285/50 is over an inch shorter than the 275/60 you have now, so you will have LESS rake than you have now.
And since I am not comfy in metric, I'm gonna help in standard.
The 295s are .8" wider (the 20mm) so go under your car and see if you have room for an extra half inch inside and outside. If you do, the right wheel can get that tire on your car. If it would be too tight in either direction, you will have to adjust the wheel backspace.
A 295 really needs to be on a ten inch rim. If your eights are centered well, and assuming a 4.5"backspace, you will need a 15x10 with 5.5" backspace
This is why you need to use the wheels and tires you have now, and a tape measure. So you know what you have 5o have for YOUR car.

Measured my wheels perfectly.. the wheel guy welds them up and says "he added a bit because they'll rub on the outside.. he didn't know how wide a 67 charger can fit.. 295 50 on a 10.
These are very short tires.

I have never owned a B-body that would take a 6.5" backspace rear wheel. Maybe yours are 5.5"?

Hmm, now you have me wondering but I thought the old centerlines only came in 3.5" and the reverse. But maybe it is 3.5 and 5.5. the 3.5" backspace did have the slicks into the wheel lip, only the height of the too stiff springs allowed that to work

I'm not familiar with the old 15x10 centerlines, about the only size centerline that I don't have, but the 15x8 1/2s came in 3 5/16 or 4 7/8 bs.
Unless your car had a full open wheelwell, the 4 7/8bs fit better.
Wait, I do have some 15x10 1/2 centerlines, but they were a custom, way back when. Shallow 15x8 front half, deep 15x14 back half. Ended up with 7 1/2" backspace, for moved springs, and an un-narrowed rear.
 
Get under there and get your own good measurements. One maker's 275/60 isn't quite the same size as another maker's 275/60. And you'll always find people on the web that say "it works for me" but they don't mention if they ever rub when turning, or if they trimmed the fender lip, etc....
