Recently I posted in the lost and found two broadcast sheets that were in my '67 GTX convertible. Both were in the seats and did not match my VIN. Last night I pulled the seats to remove the filthy carpet and could not believe my eyes! Unreal after 54 years under the driver's feet and the original carpet! Central California car. The previous owner bought it in 1968 and kept it high and dry in the mountains. The sheet is 95% legible and I will need some help decoding. Does anyone know of a conservator/business that can restore and clean these documents? What a weekend!!

First thing I would do is have a high resolution scan made of it.

Congratulations on the find. Great condition in that location...UNREAL!

Wow, that is amazing. I can guarantee you that there is a very small percentage of cars where any paper in that location would have survived more than a few years. Especially in our rust belt area.

Real lucky it survived! I found one under carpet drivers seat. The original owner put blocks to raise seat. It got dinged didn't know what it was until I opened it.

Once you have the scan, I suggest leaving the original as-is and putting it under glass in a nice frame with acid-free backing material. Its current condition is a testament to the history and survival of your GTX. Great find!

Although it is expensive, they can likely be restored quite nicely by a document restoration company. Or, perhaps a place that specializes in valuable comic books.

First time I have ever seen one in that location.

At no point do you clarify but it sounds like it is the sheet for your car.... Is that the case? If so congratulations! If you don't mind me asking what town did your GTX come from?

It reads like it is the THIRD sheet he's found in his car.

Yes, it matches my VIN.

In that case Congratulations!!!! Broadcast sheets with the wrong vin are a quick high but only a temporary thrill... The correct sheet is much much more of a thrill...

Great find, never quit looking for them.

This floor find is common under the carpet on 1967 B-bodies. I have found 8 sheets in different cars under the carpet, usually drivers side front or back foot wells, and 2 right on top of the trans tunnel in the center of the car. And they were always the correct sheet for the car when under the carpet.

St. Louis and LA built.

Thanks guys. I was in church and my wife wouldn't let me type! Lol.

Yes, that first couple seconds looking at the VIN is heart stopping! I was so relieved to have it match. Still can't believe with wet shoes over the years the paper was even there. The build sheet confirms some options that I had questioned present on the car. I know there were roughly 680 convertible GTXs built in '67. I wonder how many had power windows, power steering, power brakes, dash clock, headrests on both front buckets and tach on the console? The puzzling thing is that the fender tag lists the axle as the "SA" or standard axle instead of the Sure Grip. I thought all GTXs got the Sure Grip?

Sure grip is a option that you can add that will never be seen, except for the occasional burnout.
Sure grip is an added option on all 67's. What it is, is on the fender tag under the AX.
