I have these 4 screws with captive copper washers. I didn’t know they were copper until I cleaned them after they were long removed from my 65 Belvedere sedan. I didn’t note where they came from. They also have a unique split point. Anyone have any clue as to where these go?
Thanks

Yup.... The Kid Is Right on the money! They go along the top of the grille on my 65 Belvedere !

thanks Thunderlugs. I looked at my grille and there are 5 mounting tabs, but I only have 4 screws so I may have misplaced one. Do you see 5 across the top of yours? Thanks

On my '62 they were used along the top of the aluminum grill.
What about the other grill screws, do they have/need copper washers?

I took apart three 62s and iirc all had rusty crusty washers.

IIRC just the top screws have the copper washer. More than likely so you won't have rust from a steel washer running down over the grill.

That makes sense, they were only supposed to last a few years anyway.
I wonder if the 62 Polara got those 5 copper washers, and the lower trim levels got rusty streaks, lol.
Let's see, x = total savings, where:
x = # of non Polara x 5 copper washers

Curious, next time I'm digging in my rusty bolt/nut bin I'll be looking for copper washers.

Could be the rust from the screw that made the copper washer look rusty. I remember discovering the ones that I have as being copper only after I was cleaning them up on the wire wheel.
