1967 383 Coronets

Yep, I have been building Mopars since the mid 80s so just another build. I do all my own work with exception of machine work. I am going to look at a decent 383 Coronet col. Auto runner. As I never start a project unless I know I will not be upside down just checking to get opinion as to value AFTER I do all the body/paint, interior, brakes, exhaust, Legendary interior. Last 66-7 B I had was about 6-7 years ago.
Not figuring on a drive train build, and IF I have to I figure that at about $4-5000.
I have had a few 66-7 Bs over the decades, and have never seen them be worth what a 68-9 Runner/Bee is worth or even close.
Since Tx is a GM state, I will deduct 25% from all estimates unless advice from Tx Ok La Ar resident!!!
 
Just my 2 cents but I would say around $25k for a nice 66/67. A really 100% done car with 383, factory air, maybe a 4-speed might get close to $30k but it would have to be solid and near perfect. A perfect convertible maybe close to $35k. Yeah, the 66/67 cars just don’t bring what the later ones do but sometimes that works to our advantage.

I could be wrong - there have been a few 66/67cars tagged on here lately with an asking price of around $25k that I wouldn’t have touched. But a very clean, nice and highly presentable (but not perfect by any means) 66 383 Coronet recently went for $22 or $23k on BaT recently. Hard to say.
 
Is it a 440, a 500 or a sedan?

Is it a 4 barrel or 2?

Those don't matter to some, but matter a lot to others.

There's really nice (I mean, really nice) 66 500 361 car with AC for sale in FL for 22K, and it hasn't moved in about a year.

It gets bid up to about 18K, so that's either where the interest is or where the shill stops.

I see people saying some car is worth say $35,000, but that car has to have someone paying $25,000 first!
Then there is the B body pyramid. Up there at the top is the second gen Charger, then just below is say the 68-9 Roadruuner,Bee, then below that is the 66-7 B body.
I am old and my Mopars have always come and gone, but I am just about woreout. I don't buy a project without the idea I will do it and flip it, but somedays I wake up and figure I don't need say 4 cars, 2 would be better! I have never lost a dime on any of my cars, but I have built many and never made a dime for my labor either.
I will only buy a project that is worthwhile and feel it is a good value for what it is.
I hesitate to ever say restored, as that to me means every nut and bolt, everything rebuilt, new everything that needs be, total drivetrain rebuilt! There are restored show cars and then there are restored drivers, I guess my cars usually fall into the later! The guy looked at my work and said IF you had not missed those two tiny door dings, it would be a show car but it is only a driver!!! To which I replied WHEN you are 73 we will see how many dings YOU miss!!!:poke::steering:

A tail stripe on a 66-67 looks ridiculous to me. Doesn't accent the body lines at all, but everyone to their own.
 
I bought my 1967 Coronet R/T about 35 years ago after falling in love with one that I saw at 1985 Mopar Nationals in Michigan. Although I had once bought a new 1969 SuperBee, when I decided to buy another classic Mopar muscle car to restore, I decided that I would get one of the less common '66-'67 B-bodies. 35 years ago, these cars were not seen that much, and '68-'70 B-bodies were almost like Camaro's, regarding their popularity at shows. This many years later, my R/T still gets noticed for its uncommoness. I frequently get asked if it for sale, but the answer is always a firm "No." . I still enjoy my car and have no regrets.

Didn't even know a 67 Dodge Coronet existed a year ago. On my hunt for a roadrunner i came across one and i kind of liked the looks of it. A few months went by and one popped up not too far away that i could afford so i snagged it. Been hunting parts for almost a year now and have most of them. Hope to have this beauty on the road someday. No rust except the surface rust you see in the pic. Best part is it's a real WS23 Coronet R/T! Blue/Blue console auto 440 car. I'm glad the tire kickers that viewed it before me didn't purchase.

They are a little harder to restore than a later B-body because there is not as much repro stuff out there for them. All the specific R/T trim is 1967-only stuff. Sill moldings and wheel lip moldings are same as 1966 Coronet 500. Also same as 1966-1967 Charger with exception of rear wheel moldings.

Once a person gets going restoring a 66-67 coronet you kinda wonder why this ain't the most expensive mopar out there.... Its a daily battle searching for parts and you always want to find the best available, but that comes at a cost. BTW some nice front and back rechromed bumpers are available on eBay right now, looks like he sold the back one but still has the front available.

This is as good as I could find. Cal car whole life. 440 auto, shows well. Tough to find parts. Won many shows. Everyone has there own opinions on what’s right. Great driver.

I thing these prices are pretty close. especially in todays market
And I think A solid car in the right color combo could break $30k to the right guy. Especially if its optioned right . Like working air or factory original 4 spd car especially. Any more than that I think a buyer would be looking to get a Coronet RT or GTX instead ,,I would .

IMO, this one was a good representative of the market your asking about . And I honestly thought this car would have pulled a tad more, maybe $25 . Great color combo, looks like a nice car and appears solid as a rock . I was seriously interested up till it went past $20k. But by the time I paid fees, got it home and did what I would have wanted to to do to, ( add A/C ) It put it beyond what I was will to do without seeing it in person .

I’ve made a deposit on a 67 Coronet 500 triple black with a 383 four-barrel. I looked at quite a few 67 Coronets, and to me, this one is closest to what I was looking for at what I thought was reasonable. I realize that a 500 won’t have or hold the value of an RT, but I’m going to drive it so I’ll save a few dollars on gas. It has a few small issues that I could see. I’m hoping there’s nothing too much more that I can’t see. I guess I don't want to be that guy that drives up the price on these cars by paying too much. But I like it! Thoughts?

That red one has a Moss Brothers Dodge lic plate frame on it - I bought my '90 Club Cab LE from them back in the day!

I looked at quite a few 67 Coronets, and to me, this one is closest to what I was looking for at what I thought was reasonable. I realize that a 500 won’t have or hold the value of an RT, but I’m going to drive it so I’ll save a few dollars on gas. It has a few small issues that I could see. I’m hoping there’s nothing too much more that I can’t see. I guess I don't want to be that guy that drives up the price on these cars by paying too much. But I like it! Thoughts?

That looks like a very nice Coronet 500. The shots down the sides look very straight and shiny. A triple black car with the bonus of factory air conditioning is very desirable. That 383 will give you plenty of poke, with very little maintenance; they are very good engines. If you put the Hemi mufflers on it, it will have a nice factory sounding rumble. The rear deck lid trim should have black detailing between the ribs. I like Krylon semi-gloss black for this. Enjoy your new purchase this year. I too have a 1967 Coronet; an R/T hardtop.
