I ordered up some Viking Crusader triple adjustable shocks since my single adjustable fronts are shot and my double adjustable rears seem to not have the right valving.

I ordered 2-Front C617RK-W with 2 Front Springs 10DP400, and 2-Rear shocks, B617HM

We’ve been trying to get the chassis to work in order to hold some boost at the launch. Tried everything, less timing, switch to a looser converter, but could only muster a 1.43 60’. Chassis just won’t work with any power in it. Back to square one on the next outing.

That was a good read. Thanks for posting it. I doubt i'll ever have your level of power to deal with. Good luck on getting it to hook.

I slowed the 2nd video down. The rear shock extends pretty quick and then the housing bounces back. Can you tighten the rear extension and compression?
Doug

Doug keeps us all in suspension with his masterpiece. Doug knows suspensions.

The rears at full compression just don’t seem to do much anymore. They’re Strange double adjustables. One of the cheap plastic knobs is stripped as well. The front shocks are single adjustable Vari-Shocks but are leaking horribly. These Vikings should get me back on track.

I think the Vikings are going to give you a more open playing field for adjustment and affect. I can't quote on my Vikings debut performance being that I senselessly did a few things at once but they seem to be responding well the last time out which was way long ago.

I think so too. I’ve got a buddy that also just went to Viking double adjustable shocks with good success.

By the video and as you know, once your car gets pass that gremlin of loading and unloading it really turns on the coal furnace.
Thanks. So far it’s making 1250whp at 17psi. Just need to get it to hook so I can get it into the low 5s.

While you're under there, point check everything to do with the suspension and differential including the spring perches and such. You'd be surprised at how a gremlin rears its ugly head right after the water burnout.

Definitely. I put a lift in to check all of that. I can’t work off the floor anymore and at this power level, it needs more maintenance. Just tightening bolts regularly as well.

Have your helper get right up at the line. Concentrate on the rear tire 1st. It is amazing what can happen only 3 frames of video. I’ve seem my sons turbo car rotate the tire about 30 degrees thru 3 frames using a Go Pro. In frame #1, tire looks normal. Frame #2, the tire is smashed so hard the sidewall is about 1” tall. Frame #3, the tire is back to normal. The tire was a M/T 275 radial at 18 psi.

We’re going to have to get better at getting videos of the leave with this new setup. We know it’s crushing the tires as we see the limp sidewalls each time we change the MT radial. Same tire you’re familiar with. With the previous nitrous combo, it might have been 1100hp at the flywheel so it worked ok ramping in the nitrous. By the time we got it to 200hp of nitrous at the hit it was howling the radials and not controlling the suspension. I’m looking forward to testing with these shocks and seeing the results.

This link may help. Viking chart.

I got the double adjustable front Warrior shocks a few years ago. Found the ride really "weird" and adjusted to "not weird".
Set the Warrior XS (eXtreme Street) triple adjustable shocks per the range on the chart that came with them and I haven't had any problems with "weirdness".
Now if I could only get to the track...
It's only been about 15 months since I spent over $20k in parts, systems, and labor...
It sure looks nice though...

I spoke at length with the Viking tech guys (Mike Proulx) about this. It looks as though they’ll be driving settings, race settings and trailer settings to make the crusaders work and not destroy them by trailering. Hopefully they’re good shocks for my application.
